Cian Fahey on Tom Brady (2)

Just to be clear, that's consistent with Fahey's analysis. Fahey said Brady was great at the start of 2016 but then, particularly late in the season, threw more interceptable passes. Had Brady been rested at the start of the season like I recommended, he'd be playing MVP level going in the playoffs, which is what we want.

Sure, risk starting out the season in a hole because you lost 1 or 2 games during the "rest" period.
Make every late season game a high-pressure Must Win and follow that by 3 to 4 more high-pressure must win playoff games.
The team will love it.

It's not just this thread.

There are no strategy threads at all on the front page. At this point, probably less than 1% of the threads here pertain to game strategy at all (and maybe 1/1,000 posts at best have something nontrivial to say about game strategy).

The board has become a tabloid football board: who will win or should win or should have won some award, why Goodell or Kraft or whoever is evil, what NFL players or employees were disciplined for what, how bad the refs are.

It's ironic that the team that is coached by the greatest strategist of all time ignores strategy almost entirely in its fan forum.

There should be a separate subforum for football strategy exclusively, leaving the main forum for human-interest topics. I actually think there is a substantial minority of posters here who are interested in strategy but right now they can't get a word in edgewise.

Plenty of people here talk tactics and strategy they just reject outright morons like Fahey who make up their own analytics in their mommies basement. “Interceptable passes” is without question the single most idiotic “analytic” anyone has ever come up with. It’s complete nonsense and it deserves to be rejected completely. It’s exactly the kind of creation that allows anyone to make any ridiculous argument they want, as they are creating out of NOTHING the grounds for the discussion. It’s no different than judging a running back on potential fumbles instead of actual fumbles.

Start all the threads you want on whatever you want, but if you cite Fahey, Monson, or any of the other PFF type idiots you should expect blowback.

This is not relevant to the claim in the parent. I did not criticize tabloid-style or human interest stories. There's nothing wrong with them, and they can be very interesting. Just not in a thread involving strategy.

The issue is that there is no place to discuss strategy on this board. Every time or almost every time someone tries, it gets subsumed in a sea of irrelevancy, like what happened here. The evidence for that is that there are no strategy threads in the last week except this one, which, quickly became diverted by people more interested in human interest issues.

What's the harm in a separate forum for strategy anyway? People who want human interest can post on the main board like always; people who want to talk about strategy can do that. It just doesn't work for the two topics to share a subforum, as is obvious from the post distribution which is 99.9% human interest and 0.1% strategy if that. (It's obvious why sharing forums can't work, because if people come in to a thread expecting a "human interest" story, they see a strategy question as being a human interest question and treat it like a human interest story rather than a strategic question. The ways people read and respond to human interest stories compared to strategic questions are fundamentally different and incompatible.)

What the **** are you talking about ? Your thread is not a strategy thread but just hawt take ******** on Brady.

If you feel that strongly about a strategy thread then I suggest you contribute to our weekly rewatch threads instead of hypocritically *****ing about lack of serious content and then contributing with silly takes yourself.

This isn’t a strategy thread. It’s a moronic topic based upon an article written by an idiot and suggests the stupidest idea possible.

If you want a strategy topic, start one. How about discussing game planning for the Steelers.
Please start is out. Give us the outline of your defensive game plan against Pitt. What lineup should we play as base? Man or zone? Who covers who in man? How much and what types of blitzes. Do we play brown with inside leverage and help to the outside or outside leverage with a lb underneath? Does the dL play 2 gap to address bells style, or 1 gap to get pas rush? What mix?
Then if you like you can do the same for offense.
Let’s see what YOUR strategy looks like.
