True - but what does the defense have to do with per catch average yards by offense? What does the defense have to do with average points per offense besides helping the field position (where punting from....and punt coverage).....I mean, yah, they had a great d that led to SB victories.....it sure wasn't an offensive jauggernaut. Which is why I shake my head at everyone that thought that the offense could carry the defense all the way to the end. It has never done that before.
I agree with Burn, i have thought many times over the Moss years that the pats needed to go back to the higher percentage passing game.Randy Moss didn't make New England Patriots a better Super Bowl contender - Kerry J. Byrne - SI.com

well..they could and did win games with scores like 10-9, 12-10, 16-14 etc...so if you can defend well then the offense doesnt have to score 30 pts ..right now we are raw at both ends.
They lose Moss and suddently they are raw? The offense is light years ahead of the defense, with or without Moss. Call me nuts, but I am not that worried about the offense. More curious than anything else, actually. The defense worries the sh8t out of me. They can't contain the outside, they get burned almost everytime they blitz, the middle of the field is a complete mess and I have no faith in the db's. Did I miss anything?
actually if this move was made in the offseason with all the practices and workouts focused with the current players the offense wouldnt be an issue. right now after moss practiced everyday with brady last few months and 4 games into the season, they suddenly have to switch modes to play without him will be an adjustment . As you said , if we had a tough D we could allow some time for the offense to figure itself out but right now both ends have some learning curve even though offense is still better than the D.
In '08 Brady was hurt and Moss turned Cassell into Brady Jr. It's really Moss' fault that Brady's knee got blown out and the Pats missed the playoffs with 11 wins.
Would you believe that Brady's knee was taken out while he was holding on to the ball waiting for Moss to get deep? Not to mention the fact that Moss fumbled that catch!!
