Last I heard Alabama were a bit better than Rutgers i.e. not a terrible place to get players.Of course he played at Alabama lol.

Interesting. A “prove-it” trade for both players as they were both drafted in 2019 and their playing time declined. But Wilson will be 24 next year while Chase will already be 27. Hopefully some more upside with Wilson. We’ll see.A 24 year old LB with starting experience (900+ snaps as a rookie) & supposedly played well in a rotation this season. Good move.

He’s not good at contain or setting the edge which Belichick places a huge value on. He sells out to get around the tackle. He’s good at it and will do damage there. But that’s all he does.Chase always seemed to be in Bill's doghouse, for whatever reason...

They're both in last year of rookie contracts.Does this trade save the Pats any money/cap space?
He’s also got a nonstop motor which is very helpful and valued. I think the other issue is that there were rumors of buy-in problems during 2020, the expression “locker room lawyer” was used which I infer to relate to questioning game plans and usage. There are lots of anecdotes about BB valuing player feedback from the captains - Rodney and Ty stories are out there. But from someone who hasn’t proved himself like Wino, I think that rubbed him the wrong way. He’s not good at contain or setting the edge which Belichick places a huge value on. As part of a front with Garrett, Winovich will likely "look" a lot better because it's entirely different role and expectation. Mack is what many here are clamoring for - a smaller, but quicker LB.He sells out to get around the tackle. He’s good at it and will do damage there. But that’s all he does.
He is young and fast and not your typical Patriots’ LB. He had a good rookie season. Definitely shows signs that Belichick is switching the defense to be smaller and faster and against the grain for him.
We've drafted 3 players from Rutgers and about 15 from Alabama in the same timeframeOf course he played at Alabama lol.

Young? Yes.
Fast? Not so sure about that….
His play speed may be better than his 40 time, and that is obviously more important. Wino was not going to be part of the solution, so getting a guy with potential at a position of need seems like a good move. I’m in.
