Celtics 2026-2027 Discussion

Mitchell may be an eventual replacement for Walsh. They're about the same age. Mitchell is better athlete, rebounder, passer and finisher at the rim. Defensively they can guard multiple positions. He can't shoot worth a lick though and not sure if there is enough time in the world to improve that part of his game. So end of bench type guy, like Walsh. Somethings' got to give. I don't think they can keep both of them. He'll 99% likely be a two-way contract and see what happens with Walsh.

Ball is a bit of a ball hog though... will that work with Ant? Ant himself can do that sometimes.

I said this last year and I hate that it's still happening...
The WNBA has the dumbest bunch of professional athletes I've ever witnessed. What they're doing to their cash cow is pretty ludicrous & the fact that their referees are letting them do it is even more ludicrous.

When Clark's injuries take her out of the game and at the rate they're happening, it won't be long, they'll all go back to whining about how underpaid they are and why they can't get any recognition by the press & fans.

No call! ****ing bunch of dummies. Oh, the WNBA updated it to a flagrant foul the day after but too late - Clark already left the game early due to injury.

Hey - did you know that the WNBA is celebrating their 30th anniversary? Here's a poster they put out commemorating it:

Now, not having Caitlin Clark is dumb enough, but no Sue Bird? No Diana Taurasi??? What are they doing over there in the WNBA office?

And if these omissions are due to some sort of licensing agreement, then the WNBA is stupider than I thought. I don't think an NBA player can tell the NBA that they can't use their images while in uniform.

Can we star this post or like pin it somewhere? I’ve never seen you be OK with a draft pick by any Boston team

Simply a matter of common sense; wish I would see it more often from the other 3.

Unfortunately, the Brad returned to his idiot ways yesterday when Veesaar was staring him right in the face...

These two really surprised me:

20. San Antonio Spurs (via Hawks)

Jayden Quaintance, 6-9, Kentucky sophomore big

Grade: B-

26. San Antonio Spurs (via Nuggets)

Tarris Reed, 6-10, UConn senior center

Grade: B-

Not only because I felt they might be there when the Celtics picked at 27, especially Quaintance with his knee issue, but also because... how many bigs does San Antonio think they can play at once? I wonder if this means Kornet's $10 Million is gone?

Yeah that surprised me too, how aggressive they were in wanting to acquire Bigs...

He's a great rebounder, this kid, as light as he was. We are going to love those offensive rebounds.

He needs to be pounded-on to stay down low and not float backwards; but with our current HC - who should've been Fired already - he'll probably encourage him to do the Opposite...

I think we all know the Real reason...

Let’s limit our discussion to sports, thanks

Maybe this is kinda anti-free market, but it’s not like the NBA doesn’t already regulate too much stuff with teams. So here’s what I think. The NBA should just limit how far our teams can trade their first round picks into the future. The league is really stupid right now with teams trading draft picks that are like 6, 7, 8 years away from now. Almost certainly the general manager will not be around for that long and in many cases, the owner won’t be either. It’s really dumb that you’re following a team that doesn’t have a first round pick for like four years because they traded for some guy nine years ago, who you barely remember. This is just a symptom of the total idiocy and dysfunction of Adam Silver and his horrible leadership. The NBA is by far the worst run league of the four major sports.

You quoted my post but I think you meant to quote Captain Stone's post. My post was about basketball. I have not engaged in talk of the possible reasons for why the WNBA does what it does.

I was hoping the WNBA would finally flourish with the arrival of Clark & Reece. Like Bird & Magic and the NBA. It would have filled a hole in the NBA offseason. As a bonus, it would give young female basketball players something to aspire to. My two daughters used to go to WNBA games when they were younger but they stopped a long time ago. The league seems to want to self-destruct.

BTW - The WNBA was founded by and remains heavily affiliated with the NBA. The NBA Board of Governors approved the league's creation in 1996, and the NBA still holds a significant ownership stake, with NBA owners controlling a majority of the WNBA franchises.

Yeah, I think you missed the joke. Lol.

Well, if it was a joke, it was pretty lousy, so I guess I did miss it.
Some people joke that girls basketball is not real basketball. The viewership is a lot lower for the WNBA.

My daughter was on a full scholarship for track and I loved watching her team at the track meets but the boys track was much more exciting from a sporting perspective, IMO. YMMV..

There are plenty of women’s sports that I enjoy watching. Almost every one. And there are a lot of sports where I feel like it should primarily be a women’s sport. Some examples are figure skating, gymnastics, and volleyball. Women are just naturally very graceful, and it is clear that the female anatomy corresponds well with the athletic tasks. Other sports I follow as well. Women’s tennis, women’s golf, women women’s soccer, women’s swimming.

Women’s basketball is probably the worst sport for that gender. Just based on all of the physical mechanics, it is incredibly awkward to play and watch. I’m not exaggerating when I say watching a high school and sometimes junior varsity boy’s basketball team is much higher quality play than watching professional women’s basketball That might be OK, I mean, I have two daughters and I don’t want to be a ****head, but for the fact that the league is constantly shoved down everyone’s throat like it should be prime time television, and that we as fans really need to adopt it. Most of the personalities in the sport are pretty nasty. The **** that they do with all the trash, talk and jealousy and all that stuff it’s pretty pathetic and makes me dislike it much more.

There are a lot of great women’s sports and women’s athletes yet the WNBA is constantly being pushed like it’s America’s fifth sport. When I’ve actually tuned into the actual product, it was so laughable that I feel like it’s a giant conspiracy or scam. And it kinda is because there’s just a ton of marketing money pumped into this terrible product.
