Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

“He’s in Latvia. He’s starting to do more and more and more,” Stevens said. “He was in a boot for a while there, but every indication is he’s progressing well and he’s on the right timeline. But it’s going to be a while.”

Bill Simmons says the buzz around Bezos being a bidder is legit.

Pags 50.1% + Bezos 49.9% would be ideal.

This is another steal job by Brad Stevens, especially with how limited the C's are in adding a player. I was hoping for a BIG since KP is out until (likely) January but I don't see how anyone could NOT like this move. This will spell our backcourt and add that bigger guard off the bench when Pritchard is undersized and a liability on the court because of it.
Back to Back to Back!! LFG!!!!!!!!

I think he’s going to be a lot like Hauser in function but with a very different style. Great 3 pt shooter, not a great defender. Can create his own shots and is very athletic.

Ridiculous that the Celtics got him. I don’t know what the hell the Nuggets are doing.

Don't let the "not a great defender" fool you. He will play D on this team or sit on the bench. He's an absolute upgrade over Jaden Springer.

I'm not sure about Denver. Were they interested in him and passed?

Springer all D and no offense.
Walker all Offense and no D...
BUT...defense is mainly about effort, so a
player like Walker can greatly improve his defense just by being in a defensive culture like the C's.
Problem with Springer is he will ?never
be even a mediocre offensive player.
At this level, either you have some offensive ability or you dont. If he works hard and I'm sure he will, he will only improve marginally. I like him but he's very limited.
The C's want 2way players, which is how they won the Championship.
They want the same from their bench.
Pritchard made himself a very good defender to go with his plus offense but when he gets switched on a 6'5+ guard it's not optimal. So Walker seems Ike a good fit

From what I understand (I didn't see him play much before since he was out West, except for Brooklyn last year) he can play some D.
We shall see but he's only 25 and still looking for the right situation. I do remember Lakers fans hating on him tho (**** the Lakers fans).
He averaged 10ppg in only 17 minutes last year and shot 38% from three.
There is zero downside to this signing. PP could lose a few minutes is all.
This is him as well.

Denver is cap-tight, I guess, and trying to avoid the second apron. They didn't resign Caldwell-Pope, and instead they signed Russell Westbrook, which I see as a ridiculous signing given their offense. Westbook is a bad fit everywhere he goes and doesn't play well unless the entire offense is built around him dribbling around and shooting; also he's 35. Walker, meanwhile, is very athletic, more than half his shots are 3 pointers, and he shoots 38% despite a lot of them being contested. He's the type of player who be awesome on that pick and roll with Jokic. He was available for basically a practice squad contract.

He's on a mission. I like that.

More on Walker from Karalis today:

- For those who don’t know, Walker cut his signature dreadlock look off a few years ago for very personal reasons, which he shared on Instagram:

“The real truth as to why i started doing this early 5th grade, it was a cloaking device for me. During the summer of my 5th grade year I was around more family. Some that names will be left alone I was around more. I was sexually harassed, raped, abused, I even got accustomed to it because being at that age you don’t know what is what. I was a gullible curious kid that didn’t know what the real world was. I had a mindset that my hair was something that I can control. My hair was what I can make and create and be mine. And it gave my confidence.”

He shared his story so he could make a difference for someone else who had gone through something similar. So if any of us were wondering if he is strong enough to handle adversity, I’d answer that he’s handled the worst adversity of his life already.

The Lonnie pick up was huge! Guy scared score all over the court and hit the 3.. go back on watch the last game against the nets last season against us.
