He was trying to play it down the middle, and the result was a bit of a stumbling ramble. I don't see any need to read into it from there.
Agreed. However, I think people are frustrated because no one playing it down the middle ever seems to ere on the side of innocence. Has any player ever accidentally said "I think Tom Brady was railroaded?" Or "No doubt Tom got screwed."
I mean, we've all seen the facts. Why can't a single high-status player, especially a QB ever just stick up for him and say "I think the Wells Report was bunk and science disproved it."
We tend to think of these QBs as intelligent and hope maybe they are pouring over MIT articles about air pressure and realizing the truth. It's very discouraging when we realize that Mr. Second Team All-Pro (lol) appears dumb as a box of rocks. Humidity? Elevation? W-T-F???? Yet his sound byte makes it viral while scientists' do not.
