All I can think of (other than Hernandez) is that there's some licensing issues and some former players have demanded too much money from the NFL for the rights to sell their number/name combo and so the NFL doesn't have those rights and can't sell the jersey.

Gotta be some sort of deal where the team to which the player is contracted gets a cut of jersey sales or something.

Typical dumbshit that just feels punitive as a fan, like the TV deals that keep me having to jump through hoops just to watch a game that is broadcasted OTA in another part of the country.

There's plenty of players who have been out of the league for years whose number/name combos are blocked.

But I do think that licensing has to be involved somehow.

The Bruschi one is especially annoying. I ordered a custom made Bruschi jersey in 2010 and ordered it in ****ing Youth size by accident. It fits my girlfriend now so it isn't a total waste but still annoying

And yes my girlfriend is an adult woman not a young boy.
