Belichick: 'Encouraging' with Cannon | espnBoston

".......His possible return to the field WAS BROUGHT UP MONDAY BY COACH BILL BELICHICK (caps mine) during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI (link here).

"Maybe Marcus Cannon will be able to get out there soon, too," Belichick said, in remarks that made it seem like a realistic possibility. "We'll see how that goes."

BELICHICK BROUGHT UP CANON (caps mine) while speaking on the team's other players on reserve lists. He was asked a follow-up question about how Cannon is doing from a health perspective."

Re: BB Dropping the Hint: Load Up The Canon!!!!!!

I don't want to post more of the article - - encourage to use Reiss' link.

But, it is obvious that BB absolutely LOVES this kid!

6'5 358 pounds and has BB's admiration.

Great news for the man's health. And for the Patriots, the best news is that even if he comes back at 100%, he'll still be a benchwarmer. Amazing how this line has come together, compared to how things looked in the summer.

Just saw this on Reiss. SO rare for BB to bring up something like this unprompted. Most of his comments were his usual measured self, so I'm not counting Cannon in yet, but this is clearly a good sign — both for his personal health and his football future with the Patriots.

Heard the interview - there's probably no way BB brings up Cannon and mentions him unprompted unless he's going to practice soon.

Coach doesn't say s**t, unless he means it, even if he has a mouthful. It will be good to see Mr. Cannon blowing up his assignments. He is a veritable beast. Good news!

This was my favorite line.

"he's not a "sloppy (358)."

BB said:
"He's a good athlete. He's definitely been able to do some things here in between some of his treatments and things that he's done. His strength level, his conditioning, his overall movement skills and all that have been impressive for his size. We'll see how all that translates to the football field and experience and plays and so forth, if and when that happens. It's definitely encouraging
.

Release the Cannon.

I hate to do this but if Cannon starts practicing, will he then be a loose Cannon? Or does he have to play in game situations before that applies?

According to multiple tweets, Cannon is PRACTICING.

Sloppy Cannon?

According to multiple tweets, Cannon is PRACTICING.

Wow! That is amazing. Great feel good story for some media outlet to do a feature on at some point down the road.

Cannon participates in practice for first time

According to multiple tweets, per SMY and Rapaport, Marcus Cannon is participating in his first NFL practice.

Mazel Tov!

Re: Cannon participates in practice for first time

Good to hear. With Brian Waters being the acquisition of the offseason, there is no need to rush him back. But it is great to see the guy back on the field and healthy.

Short yardage full back?

Well until he's ready to get into the OL at some point.

I think he'll be the monster TE on runs. Talk about a right formation that's going to be Waters, Solder (or Vollmer) Gronk, Cannon. We need a nickname for this wall.
