Can we get Brady’s replacement in Round 3 ?

I would think that the best QBs left, the tier 2 guys, would be gone by pick 95. Mason Rudolph, Kyle Lauletta and Mike White are the next 3 best QBs.

Do you think it’s risky to pass up a QB at 43 ? Even at 63 might be a risk. I consider those 3 guys starting material, not career backups. So once those guys are gone, we are talking possible backup QBs left.

Though I wanted defense with the first 3 out of 4 picks we had, OLine and RB replaced the two biggest FA losses we had. I want defense in round 2, but do we pass up a chance at one of the remaining “starting QB” caliber players ?

Depends on what you mean by "risky". Almost all elite QBs are taken in round one. A good percentage of them in the top five or ten. If you are playing it safe you are far more likely to get a quality player in round three if you draft a position besides QB.

Off the top of my head and in no particular order Tarkenton, Staubach, Warner, Starr, Unitas, Wilson, Montana, Brees, Favre, Stabler and some kid named Brady all come to mind as the definition of elite QB's. Everyone on that list that's retired is in the HoF. If I were to name the top 3 QB's of all time their names would come from that list. Not one of them was drafted in the 1st round and all but 3 were 3rd round or later.

Lauletta would be a good fit. Nobody gives a **** about his deep throw arm strength and he has shown to have enough of it to be able to fit passes into tight windows on intermediate throws. We are not a vertical offense for the most part and his accuracy on short/intermediate throws is exactly what is needed.

I just think that he might just be too expensive at this point in terms of draft capital. I would almost prefer to go Woodside/Manziel and use the picks for other positions.. especially after trading away the third round selection for our new RT.

Do you seriously not see the fallacy of listing guys who weren't draft6ed in the last 30 years? And outliers do not disprove my point.

Looks like TB12 met with BB and Kraft and all three of them came to the conclusion that he has another 2 or 3 years left. So maybe the heir apparent will be drafted next year?

The guys that weren't drafted in the past 30 years are on the list because they are HoF all time greats. Do you not see that ignoring the careers of Favre, Brees, Warner and Brady shows your point is fallacious? Never mind the foolishness of "Almost all elite QBs are taken in round one. A good percentage of them in the top five or ten."

Just my observations:

1. Fans think that just because we drafted Brady in the 6th rd., that we'll be able to duplicate that to some degree with a mid round draft pick. Get out of here.

2. Manziel? Hahahaha oh boy.

3. Lauletta does not have the look of an NFL quarterback. I told you guys we were not drafting him.

4. We had the next one. His name was Jimmy. Ask the Dolphins, Bills, Broncos and many other teams how hard it is to replace a great quarterback. Oh but in Bill We Trust. GTFO.
