Simple question....is it remotely possibly that next seasons Patriot roster could be stronger than this years AND stay within the salary cap ?

If it is which positions would you be looking to strengthen and how would you manage the cap

Can we enjoy the remainder of this season and post-season first?

Good question. A lot of people want to focus on the present and worry about the offseason later, which is fine, but it is also ok to look into the future as well and plan ahead.

I definitely see Colvin getting an extension which would lower his cap from 7.3 mil to maybe in the 3-4 mil range. (save 4.3-3.3 mil). Also a restructure of Faulk's deal is a possibility to lower his 2008 cap by about 700,000 roughly if we spead his salary into bonus over the two years. I would also let go of Stallworth and Washington, unless they are willing to stay under different contracts for much less. We'd resign Moss and Samuel (hopefully) and also Gaffney for another cheap deal. Our WRs would be Moss, CJ, Gaffney, Welker, Bam and possibly either Stallworth or Washington if they choose to come back for much cheaper deals. Also, Bruschi and Seau might retire. Not sure if Rodney would, I think he still has the fire and passion of the game to leave, even if we win the Superbowl. I would also really like to resign Gay if possible. I don't know, just some thoughts I had on the topic.

Given his pricetag and lack of production, would there ever be a situation where we let Seymour walk? Not sure the structure of his contract.

Not in '08... But I can see them trading or releasing him before the start of the '09 season to free up some $$ (if he wont restructure).
