16 points per game allowed over the last 9 regular season games, 17 points per allowed over the last 12 games (including playoffs).

The Patriots do have a lot of good players returning, lost Trey Flowers but added Michael Bennett and have Bentley coming back from injury and added Winovich, Collins and Williams?

With Bill Belichick calling the plays, can the Patriots allow the lowest point total in football?

If the Pats Offense can keep opposing team's Offense on the sidelines with long scoring drives....Their Defense could be even better this year...

Does a bear sh** in the woods??

Can they? Yes

Will they? ProbablyicertainlyhopesoNot

Sure they could. Time of position could be a key variable, especially if the running game resembles some of the dominance it had at times last year. That’s a two-way street of course since a D that gets off the field quicker can enhance an O’s TOP.

The combo of an already great D + having a dominant run game and efficient passing game is a great combo for minimizing points.

No coordinator. No coaches. :)

My uncontroversial prediction is that we'll all be bellyaching about how bad the defense is in week 4 and be pretty damned impressed by week 17.

We're a proactive group. Bellyaching has already begun.

And Pennel.

Who cares ?

Most probably they will start out above the historical BB defense line of 21ppg and get better as the season progresses. Points per game are absolutely meaningless especially without any context attached to them.

Belichick's schemes vs 3 second year QBs for their six division games...

Entirely possible.
