Can someone describe what it means for a reciever to have leverage?

I've only heard 'leverage' when talking about the o-line/d-line fighting in the trenches (i.e. getting under pads to get leverage)... but i've recently heard it in relation to receivers getting leverage on db's... what does this mean?

For receivers, creating leverage is creating great position, e.g. creating separation in breaks or being between your man and the ball, and/or breaking his cushion.

There is also getting leverage on inside out blocks (1/0) on run plays.

Leverage also applies to the DB's as well in terms of playing the field to maintain leverage against the WR, a.k.a. Saban's "divide and conquer" field philosophy for his DB's where he has his DB's understand their divider and maintain area responsibility. You can see a lot of this in Pats DB philosophy. What BB takes from Meyer in offense (the spread), he takes from Saban for D.
