Can KC go 19-0?

Did you see the "at home against Denver" game as coming down to a blocked FG?

The hypothetical to which I responded had Buffalo winning the game this Sunday. Obviously if KC wins it changes the equation quite significantly from the one I laid out.
Buffalo have the Tougher road based on Schedule if they can beat the Chiefs and 49ers at home I'm a believer. They also have the Rams and Detroit on the road.

The 2 teams' future schedules are within a single percentage point of being equal. There is no significant advantage for either team.

Really who's the mathematician?? The accountant from Enron?? Again KC have the Panthers - Raiders and Browns on their upcoming Schedule. They also own Herbert and the Chargers: I see dead people and Four wins right there.

It baffles me how some people react so angrily to a simple statement of fact. I guess when you talk out of your ass and make **** up out of thin air, you hate being called out for it. That aside.....

If you don't believe me, run the numbers yourself. After they play each other this weekend, KC's future SOS is currently tougher than Buffalo's, although it is within 1.3% of each other so my main point is there's really no significant advantage either way. It could easily reverse a couple percentage points based on this weekend's outcomes.

Did you see the "at home against Denver" game as coming down to a blocked FG? Why do you keep ignorning that question?

This is a big game for Buffalo. They need this for morale.

If you don't believe me, STFU and run the numbers yourself. I have to admit I did round down so, to be more precise, the 2 teams' future strength of schedule after they play each other is currently .013 within each other, or 1.3%, so there is no significant advantage for either team (though KC's future SOS is currently tougher than Buffalo's).

Ok I'll play: maybe you missed my point...KC is like those old Patriots Teams during our Dynasty that just wins, and some of those wins were lucky.

Absolutely. They are a team that snatches victory from the jaws of defeat time and again. Some call it luck, but I think it is more a function of when one team expects to get the good bounce and win the game and the other expects to get the rough break and lose the game, those become self-fulfilling prophecies.

Having said that..... if Buffalo beats KC this weekend (and please note I am not predicting they will I am only saying IF they do) then it is a 1 game lead with 7 games left for the Chiefs. Hardly a time to rest your starters for the playoffs.

Crazy.

Average Margin of Victory
2007 Patriots: +19.7
2024 Chiefs: +6.4

One-score games
2007 Patriots: 4/16
2024 Chiefs: 7/9

The Pats losing in 2007 was really bad for the NFL.

Buffalo is currently a 2' point favorite.

I think it is very generous to call a 1 game lead with 7 games to go as having it "locked up" especially since Buffalo would own the tiebreaker.
What can I say? I'm a very generous person.

Like the win in 2001 in Buffalo. David Patten decides to take on a LB on the sideline after catching a pass and gets knocked out and fumbles. But the ball grazes his leg as he's going down and it's Pats ball. They won 12-9 in OT.

In 2007 the Ratbirds game was the one where Rex Ryan called TO and gave us another chance for the win.

Yeah, but in '01 they were an unknown quantity. In '07 they were a wagon blowing people out.

Neither of those fit this Chiefs team.

I agree. Totally different type of teams. The 2007 Pats were dominant. this KC team is not.

If KC gets by at Buffalo this week then they'll have Hou at home and Pitt on the road as their toughest games. They could do it.

And they weren’t racking up the big victories against a terrible schedule like the 1999 Rams (#2 behind the 2007 Patriots when it comes to average margin of victory (+17.8) in the Super Bowl Era) or the undefeated 1972 Dolphins (+15.3)

The 2007 Patriots defeated:

13-3 Colts
13-3 Cowboys
11-5 Chargers
10-6 Browns
10-6 Giants
10-6 Steelers
9-7 Redskins

They also defeated the 7-9 Bengals, 7-9 Bills and 8-8 Eagles, so that’s potentially 3 more .500 or better teams if they didn’t have the misfortune of playing the 2007 Patriots. There’s a reason the 2007 Patriots are #1 all-time in DVOA and SRS, which take into account dominance + strength of schedule and teams like the 1972 Dolphins and 1999 Rams (or the 2024 Chiefs so far) aren’t even close.

Not a chance. They are almost as bad as the 2020 Steelers that started 11-0 or something by winning a bunch of games like this. Kc will of course have more playoff success than that team (steelers were crushed by the browns in round one, go figure ) but they’re going to drop a game at some point in the regular season at least.

The 07 pats were the only team capable of doing it. The majority of the games were blowouts, showed their dominance. If you’re in a bunch of one score games your odds are very bad, and you’re not that dominant either.

2007 is the greatest team of all time for this reason. Regardless of the outcome of the last game of the season.

Let's just pray the Bills can beat them this week and get it over with.
It's funny, we've turned into the '72 Dolphins, not wanting anyone to ever go 16(17)-0 again.

Although, if the Zebras can get out of the way, @Bills, Chargers, Texans, @Steelers, @Broncos - all have a decent shot of beating them.
