While this is definitely a huge game, the last 5 games (3 playoffs) of last season were much bigger than this one.

I'd put Super Bowls and Conference Championship Games in a class by themselves, so in that sense Brady has played in nine "biggest"games and Sanchez one. After that, any game that makes the difference between getting to the Playoffs or continuing in the Playoffs (the latter = "any Playoff game"). As painful as it is to acknowledge, though, "the biggest" game of Brady's career with the Patriots was XLII, when Sports (and not just NFL) Immortality was on the line. On a happier note, I'd put XXXVI second.

The running game disappeared with Greene going out and Jones being injured, the defense let Manning pass all over them, and they missed 2 field goals. Sanchez was the least of their concerns that day.


Sanchez played great that game, especially for a rookie in the AFCCG.




You can't argue that he doesn't play his best in big games.

Whether it's the playoffs in the NFL or the Rose Bowl in college, it's been consistent throughout his football career so far, hopefully it continues.

Sanchez was fine, the running game disappeared when Greene got hurt because Jones was too worn down from all the carries during the regular season (331 if I remember correctly). That's why the Jets have been so careful about splitting the carries between Tomlinson and Greene.

Sanchez was playing well, but because of some of his horrific performances earlier in the season, the coaching staff was reluctant to lean on him to win the game when we fell behind. They continued to pound the ball with Jones, even when it wasn't working, hoping that he would break a long run and that the defense would find a way to hold Manning. Neither one of those things happened. They didn't trust Sanchez, and he probably hadn't earned that trust yet.

The same thing happened in the season opener. Rex admitted that he gave too much respect to the Ravens' D when they put the gameplan together, and the result was a restrictive, conservative offense. Ever since then, they haven't hesitated to put the game in Sanchez's hands, and he has rewarded them for that trust. If we go down in the playoffs this year, we'll go down throwing.

Taking it beyond Brady-Sanchez: Our young players have gotten a taste of what it's like to be a Patriot and always in the spotlight. It seems like every week they have played in the top game or a national TV game: opener v Cinci was the top game that week; then at Jets obviously big; MNF v Miami; v Ravens after Moss trade; at SD; Moss Bowl v Vikings; at Mighty Pittsburgh; annual Big Showdown v Colts; national TV v Lions. Gotta like the way the young guys have responded in (most of) these situations.

Did you just refer to college success? I mean if we are doing that then Vince Young is easily the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the league. Colt McCoy is right behind him.

I would argue that last years AFCCG was a bigger game for Sanchez then this game.

Amen. The entire premise of this thread is wrong. It's a big game for Sanchez, for sure, but the Jets are making the playoffs. Last year he had a game to go to the freaking Super Bowl. This pales in comparison to that.
