My guess is because of Julio's speed, Butler will be covering him with Ryan on Sanu. Gabriel poses some problems.

Julio is probably the best WR in the league with his combination of size, strength and speed (AJ Green is one of the best and he's a stronger AJ Green). I like this matchup for Butler and obviously if he plays well we win easily

I would expect Logan on him. I feel like Logan gets every big, tall wr assignment. I'd guess Julio to be physically similar to demaryius (but a much better receiver), who Logan always covers

Nope. No way. I don't want that. Butler can't hang with him and will need help. He is a different Animal than Brown. Different skill set and overall a better player. Butler can not match up with him 1v1. Butler takes away the #2 guy and you put 2 guys on Julio. That is the way you do it.

Julio must be double team at all time.

Not really ready to move on yet but :

Rowe + Safety on Julio
Ryan on Gabriel
Butler on Sanu

Makes the most sense to me. Rowe has size with help, the other two matchups aren't too bad for us.

4+ years later.....

im guessing that logan is on him with the safety help acourse. He's just a really really big guy for Butler to cover.

From Rotoworld:

FOX's Jay Glazer reports Julio Jones is playing through three separate foot injuries in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Per Glazer, Jones has two ligament issues in his toe in addition to a "mid-foot" ailment. Glazer says Jones is playing though a "lot" of pain. Jones caught two passes on Atlanta's opening drive, so the injuries haven't been an issue on the field yet.

Chung handled TY Hilton pretty well last year I think it was (Arrington had him in 2014). I wonder if he could handle Gabriel who's also small and runs a 4.3 something.

Logan will be trailing jones with mccourty up top. Butler will shut down sanu. Chung will have to handle a tight end. Rowe will get Gabriel and that scares me.

Need a big game from van noy and the linebackers,

Yea, I'll take that matchup all day and twice on Sundays tyvm.

Which is why Patricia would never do it!
Haha, who knows what the hoodie has in store but I've been a huge fan of Devin McCourty ever since he came into this league. Can you shutdown Julio probably not. But can you contain him and eliminate the big plays, with Devin shadowing I think so. The genius of Kyle Shannahan has been using our RB tandem and short throws in his WCO as an extension of the running game. I would expect some shovel passes in the next game. IMO the biggest key is to make Ryan feel you as that will affect the Falcons well oiled machine drastically. In past years Ryan would key in on Julio even in double coverage and at times blatant triple coverage like he did when Gonzalez. You'll still see Ryan have Julio be his first read on 3rd down conversions but he's done a much better job of spreading the ball around and looking off the defense. Similar to Brady, Ryan gets the ball out quick. Affect the interior of the pocket, decrease Ryan's internal clock imo is the best way to stop our O. If they try to zone, it'll get picked apart and Kyle will exploit mismatches across the board. Patriots defense is good but they don't have any game changers. Will be a fun and interesting chess match to watch.

It'll have to be man to man defense. We're not a strong zone team and Matty Ice is now at the level where he will pick one apart, he's a much improved QB.

The game plan will have some concepts carried over from the AFCC. Key in on the running game (including pass catching out of the backfield, what ever way it is to limit that).

Defensive matchups:

Logan Ryan on Julio (with safety help)
Butler on Gabriel
Rowe on Sanu

Id rather have him cover RB's put of the backfield.
