Ahh Mikey, Steve didn't actually mean it. He doesn't really want any more people moving where he lives. Hell, he's probably trying to figure out a way to get all the Massholes that moved there in the past decade the hell out.

My Dude, better there than here. My wife is a native Maineiac and we always spent a good portion of our recreational time here. When we first retired we moved to a home in Cape Elizabeth we'd bought for the purpose years before and rented out. That didn't last long, it was a great house and primo location and but once we lived there full time we realized the place was infested with Yawkas. We built a year round home where our summer place was and we've been here ever since. The natives 'round here aren't the most aware of drivers and I need to be damn mindful of it when I'm out on the motorcycle but it's nothing compared to what happens every damn summer. The Yawkas and Cretinicuts show up and then the driving gets really 'interesting'

I did a lot of a motorcycle riding for the entire 10 years I lived in South Florida. Riding a bike in Florida has the extra added risk of sharing the road with what we used to call "Blue Hairs". Blue hairs are the nice "Old Ladies" who had just left their hair dressers and their hair seemed to have a bluish hew to it.

Anyhow, while riding on a double lane roads in FL, the "Blue Hairs" tended to not look when they wanted to change lanes and would just change lanes at anytime with absolutely no warning. That would make us pucker up when we had a Big Ass Lincoln just change lanes in front of our bikes and almost run us over. This happened very often.

This just added to the fun of survival. . .

Maybe a trade for or FA signing of a top player will open the floodgates? Maybe that's key.
Yes! U said it perfectly! Drake is well perceived around the league and guys want to play with him. If we got say kupp that would lure other players. Going back to last off season it was so bad that not even money could get ayuik here. I believe we get some guys on defense and offense this off season. Selling drake- Vrabel- McDaniels is a much more attractive way.

Evidently this has become dementia central, since it seems everyone in the lasted cry for the Pats to spend money for money's sake, we have simply forgotten that just 3 seasons ago (2021) IIRC the Pats spent more money than anyone in FA that season and came away with a VERY mixed bag of success. Just spending money to say you spent it is stupid today, just like it was stupid yesterday and the day before that, ad nauseum.

In the end we WILL spend a lot of money in FA. We WILL make some hits and some...not so much. We all know this NOW, why will be continuing to agonize over it. Are we just DOOMED to make ourselves miserable?

FA is spotty at best. Anyone worth keeping stays put.

What you ascribe to the blue hairs in FL is an everyday fact of life in country ass Maine. They don't look when changing lanes or backing out of a driveway, after all there was never anything there before why would there be anything there now? A few years ago I got racked hard on my Fat Boy by a 90 year old blue hair who blasted out of a blind driveway in reverse straight into me, she 'confused' her gas and brake pedals. I came to in the ICU a few days later. Rode in Boston throughout my college years and spent a good portion of my adult life riding/commuting in and around it, didn't have anywhere near the number of close calls in all that time as I have in an average summer here. Massholes know there's going to be something there so they always look, Maineiacs not so much

They should and anyways They pretty have to. There’s barely anyone to resign so should have over 100m going into fa. Can only carry over so much of that even if they wanted to
And, they're supposed to have over 100 Million for 2026 even if they blow through most of this coming season's cap money.

Well I believe thatd only be if they are all one year contracts. Whoever they sign to multi year deals now would subtract from that 26 cap space right?

If we sign new players for $100M in 2025 cap money, the cap money for these players would be higher for 2026. ignoring one-year contracts.

It's been said that both Quay Walker (a young and athletic LB) and Rashan Gary (a big DE/EDGE) can be had for late rounds picks from Green Bay. We'd just have to pay them and we have the money. Walker is 6'4 and 241 and can go sideline to sideline. Green Bay has someone coming up behind him and might not want to pay his 5th Year option. Just throwing that out there.

I call them "Cotton"

They should aim to bring respectability to as many positions on the depth chart as they can. Not out of injury but rather because we didn't have anyone else we started guys like Demontrey Jacobs, Ben Brown, Christian Ellis for a LOT of games last year. Guys like Vederian Lowe and Daniel Ekuale each have tape showing they're not starter level too. We didn't have a viable outside CB across from Gonzo. Layden Robinson and Caedan Wallace were not draft at "automatic day 1 starter" spots in the draft yet we were forced to rely on them a lot because we had no one else.

There were just way too many cases like that. It's one thing to be relying on guys not ready yet or practice squadders if there are injuries. It's one thing to draft a guy like Polk at a draft slot where you expect to get day 1 snaps and the guy just flops. But there should not be such unproven and questionable "Plan A" options at so many positions.

Even if they don't spend a ton of money or sign any big names they should be at or near the league lead in total FAs signed. They need t give themselves some baseline talent across the board. It's really hard to develop players when they're surrounded by slop. We need to make sure there's not too much slop on the field, even if it's still not top end talent. That's at a minimum.

Please understand that in 2023, the patriots had close to the MOST guaranteed money signed. It wnt almost unnoticed because the money was spent on our own players. Some of this might happen again with Jon Jones, Hooper, Austin, Ellis and possibly Wise and Slye.

But, yes, we will again be near the top in free agent money spend, likely with much, much less carried over.
