BTW, TFB's Not So Subtle Point for Gronk in the MMQB Interview Pt.2

We need the dude healthy. I think some in the organization are getting almost as antsy about his health as some of us here.

Interesting dynamic.

1) Brady is evangelical about his TB12 business and, if you heard him even before this interview - say, the WEEI one last year - he can be almost Moonie about it.

+

2) Gronk's dad Gordon's family business is 180 degrees the opposite.

3) You have the makings of a huge fitness culture clash, right there. I'm surprised this is going over some people's heads.

.

Well at this point the results seem to indicate "Advantage: TB12".

Brady never said it was 100% absolute - there will still be injuries - just fewer and quicker to recover from.

It was incredible how quickly Edelman came back to play last year - - he should have been IR'ed. And it was incredible how he came back this year with 98 catches for 1,106 after having a broken foot. Yes, he missed time, but look at the first 4 years of his career vs. the second 4 years when it comes to durability. It's a Tale of Two Careers.
48 games in 4 years vs 55 games in 4 years is more likely luck that the big deal you are making it out to be.

And, yes, it is not 100% - it just prepares the body better and yields better results.

In the words of Parcells 'You ain't winnin' us any games from the whirlpool'.

I understand the idea. But I am a physician, and have seen training fads and concepts come and go. Not to say the approach is wrong or not helping, but a sample size of one or two is limited to generalize. Also sometimes there are benefits, but they can be overstated. There is no doubt that increased muscular strength has led to more soft tissue injuries. But to attribute Edelman not having a broken foot this year to this training regimen seems a stretch.

Next up, enraged Gronk confronts Brady 'Cash me ousside, howbow dah?'

Brady is talking about hos this is good for everyone. Obviously the oft injured Gronk will be brought up but he never mentioned him personally.

IDK if all this stuff really works or not but so far given the limited information why not. Seems to work so far and sense we don't have 20 years of data on various players to compare I would say why not have Gronk give it a shot. At the least I know having all your muscles super tight and not focusing on flexibility is a real thing so that should be added more to Gronk work out perhaps.

Brady's not gonna lecture Gronk via King. Gronk just happens to fit the profile of what Brady is talking about.

If Brady said "you shouldn't date a married woman" it doesn't mean he's taking a shot at Belichick.

How about coming back so quickly from a broken foot to play in the playoffs last year then put up 98 catches, 1,106 yards this year? While also taking ONE HELLUVA beating?

Broken bones will always happen. What Brady is talking about is reaction and recovery as much as the lower incidence rate that the poster in post #32 was referring to.

The organization and the Gronk family have had some uncharacteristically public disagreements about his recovery time in the past.

He came back too soon for the playoffs - and had to have a 2nd procedure. Was able to heal properly over the summer, but lost training time that affected his performance in the early part of the year (I think that was more of an issue than the foot in the early weeks this year). People do recover from Jones fractures. The Julio Jones dude had one and has a screw in his foot - and he is pretty good.

Look folks, OBVIOUSLY he didn't mention Gronk outright.

But TFB is a LOONY BIRD about his regimen (which is what he considers his true legacy to humanity at this point - yes, even more than football).

If he sees his best weapon on the New England Patriots doing the exact opposite of what he is generally annoying in public about and then beingIR'ed for 2 of the past 4 playoff years, yeah, I bet he 's probably quite miffed at the weight lifting focus of Gronk's regimen.

I'm as clueless a schlub as anyone here about the inner workings there, but it makes total sense that after his 15th Kale shake, he is wondering why his Charles Atlas TE is still pumping iron.

So quickly? Months after a 2nd procedure?

If so, maybe he's on the same regimen.

I think Brady's philosophy mirrors that of coach BB. The Coach has opined about players needing to be available to play. I think GM Belichick views Gronk's next contract value and the need for TEs in the draft and/or FA through the lens of end of season disappointments seen by Gronk's absense.
If there's a different training regimen as exemplified by Willie, TFB, and recent Squirrel & Dola availability turn arounds, then someone with a problematic availability history like #87 might benefit. Note that much of Gronk's missing games early on was bone breaks not lack of pliability. But that does not negate the potential value of minimizing or avoiding future injuries.

Glad to hear the back ops went well.

You DO understand he has a BUSINESS that he purposely located at Patriots Place and a business plan to franchise nationally?

Anyone paying attention the past 3 years knows full well that this guy is as evangelical on the subject as the starriest eyed Hare Krishna.

Oh yes, I was just pointing out that I don't think he was taking a shot at Gronk in an interview. I do think he wants every athlete to do his TB12 system.
