Browns ONLY got a 2nd for Winslow

You can't really compare getting a second for a former 7th or 1st round pick. What they did when they were on your team also needs to be taken into consideration to get the true value of the trade.

Seriously? You think a troubled TE who has basically only played in 2 1/2 seasons of his 5 and who has had both knees rebuilt is worth as much as a franchise QB?

This news makes me feel worse.

agreed, good response

just because he was drafted higher doesn't make him a better value during trading

How do we know he is a franchise QB? I'm not saying he won't be, but he has to prove it.

They traded for QB, who has a high possibility of becoming a franchise QB, but isn't 100% that he will be!

You trade players based on their projections from their performance. Cassel performed at an extremely high level at the second half of the season. He showed progression and got better as the season wore on. You are trading a QB who projects based on his performance a franchise caliber QB. In Winslow, you are getting one of the better TEs who has had numerous injuries and looks he has reached his ceiling. You also have to take into account that the QB position is more valuable and is a greater commodity than the TE position. YOu cannot possibly think that Winslow is more valuable than Cassel based on both of their performaces last year. YOu are tricking yourself.

Unless there is another unkown agreement between Scott and Bill, we got jammed in this deal.

I do not think Winslow is worth more than Cassel, Winslow was worth a 3rd at best, and I still think Cassel was worth more.
But all I can think is that we got a 2nd, and there is nowt we can do about it!

I agree, what the hell is with all the people on this forum trying to convince themselves that this was a fair deal? People we got hosed plain and simple!

Well...

Winslow was a 1st round pick (6th overall) has been traded for a 2nd and a 5th

Cassel was a 7th round pick (230th overall) has been traded for a 2nd (yes, I know an aging OLB, who was on the decline has been added)

I think we got the better deal

1st turns into 2nd and 5th

7th turns into 2nd (Y)(Y)

Also; you say Winslow has only played 2 and half seasons, but Cassel has played one season!!!!

I admire your attempt to put a positive spin on things, because there are too many negative people such as myself, but.......

using your logic, the Patriots would have also made a good deal if they traded Tom Brady for a second round pick.

Also, it's better then losing him for nothing!!!

What we got wasn't what we want/expected, but it's better then a kick in the teeth!

If they get to working on extending Wilfork it would take a lot of the sting away! I just keep thinking when teams will be throwing away high picks for the stiffs coming out of college in this upcoming draft i don't see how we didn't at the very least get someones first. Not to mention we gave them arguable still are second or third best LB on top of that.
