Brennan Williams OT signed to PS [10/22 Update: Released]

There is something wrong with Williams' career from what I see. On the surface he has the size, and you'd think that as a 3rd round pick he'd project to be an eventual starter. Yet after losing his first year to an injury, BOTH the Texans and then the Jags gave up on him before September.

You have to ask the question why did the Texans give up on a 3rd round pick before September of his 2nd year. Then you have the question confirmed when he couldn't make it to September in TC with the Jags, a team you'd think would need some good young OL talent.

Based on the slim evidence at hand, you'd have to think that his issues were probably attitude or effort issues. I can't see any other reason for the Texans to get rid of him so quickly. The other possibility is a physical one, but if he had a physical problem that forced the Texans dump him so fast, I don't see how he shows enough in a work out to get signed by the Pats.

I mean its no big deal one way or the other, but I thought it was a little curious that his fall out of the league was so precipitous. But his back story with the fact his dad was an ex-Patriot who stayed in the area and that he is a CM grad, it would be a great story if he made the team. However based on the what we know, (which is almost nothing) I don't have high hopes long term.

Sounds like Dion Lewis to me.

He had some serious knee microfracture operation and sometimes its heals 2 or more years or maybe it wont heal 100%
This year he rehabed at TB12 sporting center with Tom brady healt guru Alex Guerrero and Dante Scar.
The pats wanted him to sign with them but he choose Jags. And now he is on pats practice squad.
PAts really valued him high on 2013 draft.
If he is full healthy he has greater upside than Fleming and in year or two he should be starting RT.

Maybe he couldn't cope with playing for another team when he has always had his heart set on being a Patriot.

Thought after Dante Scar left we would have some issues coaching up the O-Line our new man Gug's haven't missed a beat. Thats a testament to his Coaching look at how he turned Josh Kline into a decent Guard. Brennan Williams have all the tools to work with let Gug's now transform him love the pickup. P.s. I remember his father Brent Williams back in the days he was Decent along our D-Line.

Both Vollmer & Solder should return healthy (I hope) next season, but I would be thrilled if Williams turns out to be a legit Swing Tackle. Prior to his injuries, he was thought to have enough athletic ability
to possibly become at least a backup-caliber Left Tackle, and he certainly has the size to play RT as he
did in college.

Chiuba posted a video clip of him speaking on the Practice Squad thread, really sounds like a smart, articulate, likable, funny guy. It's hard not to root for him.

......but like Dion Lewis when he was with the Colts..........

Glen Farley @GFarley_ent
Just got off the phone with Eastons Brennan Williams. #Patriots released him this morning.

.

OK, so THIS is curious.......................

(13 minutes after Farley's tweet - you can see it in the running Twitter on the right side of the forum):

New England Patriots ? @Patriots
"It's like coming home." We asked new practice squad OL Brennan Williams about being signed by his dad's old team:

I'll assume he was late.

OK, either the Patriots Media Dept. is having a bad morning or Glen Farley has gotten hilariously punk'd:

  1. Glen Farley @GFarley_ent
Brennan Williams says he met WWE Hall of Famer Booker T while he was with the Houston Texans.

  2. Glen Farley @GFarley_ent
Easton's Brennan Williams, released by #Patriots this morning: "I think I’m going to go into pro wrestling." Hopes to learn under Booker T.

OK, looks like just a bad day for the Patriots Media Dept.

Adam Kurkjian @AdamKurkjian
The Pats have released Brennan Williams according to his father.

......and just as that happened, the Patriots Media Dept. has wiped their tweet off the face of the earth.

Hey Stacey, you're welcome for the heads up!

Hahaha, this is hilarious. Good luck with your acting career

Was he really released im confused

Yup. Looks like it.

Looks like a one day contract gift to his dad. (In the hastily taken down Patriots.com tweeted video, he was interviewed saying how he recognized some of the franchise employees from the 1990s when he was a kid. Leads me to believe there were some folks doing a nice gesture for 24 hours).

Good luck to Brennan in his future endeavors!
