Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

You act like they HAD to trade him. If you could have Josh Dobbs or Joe Milton right now you’d choose Milton. This is even more egregious when you consider Milton is making 700K and Dobbs is making 2M per. Just hold onto him, don’t trade him for nothing. Dumb. The front office and coaching staff didn’t want to open themselves up to second guessing.
Milton is a #3 QB. You take what they got for him in a trade every single time.

I don't think enough people understand just how bad the scenario was last season with the coaching and organization dysfunction.... To have a 22 year old come in with no OL, no OC, no HC and do what he was able to was just utterly impressive. Most rookies would have folded. His potential is top 5.. Drake works his ass off and wants to be great.

He now has the coaching to help him be on his way..
I agree, his potential is through the roof.

Potential isn’t reality until it manifests.

First Maye needs a veteran to help him take that next step. Milton was never it.

I have no doubt if the Patriots had a better offer out there for Milton they would have taken it. There weren't any. There's also no evidence Milton is better than the QB prospects this year plus they have 1 year on him on the rookie contract.
When Dobbs was signed I knew Vrabel was likely going to do Milton a solid.. from what I've read he's wanted to go somewhere with an opportunity to start since last season.. Dobbs will help Drake.. but Drake has elements and qualities about him that can't be coached.. even Mayo knew this...

I didn't pay attention? Yeah, at times that's absolutely true... What I did see, and what I paid attention to was Joe Milton putting on a dog and pony show in a glorified preseason game... and all of a sudden he's worth a 3rd? 2nd? dear god, the sense of entitlement, of "gimmee my riches" that careened around the walls in here after that sandlot showing was ridiculous...

so what is he worth?

Hes worth exactly what someone will pay for him - and shocker ( ←to be read with dripping sarcasm, like it was said by Samuel Jackson), its not a pie in the sky day two pick...

the pick is in the 5th round comp pick- either the 171st or the 174th... i dunno what else to tell you except learn how to cope with disappointment of an extra 5th
The freakin' Chernobyl level meltdown on this board is laughable. We are all experts, myself included. Clearly this is the market.

A 5th is a decent range to get a future starting center or guard. It could work out in the long run...he says hopefully.

Fck Dobbs… if Maye got hurt Milton would be the much better option to start.

"The #Patriots had a better offer for Milton but chose to send him where he wanted out of respect". ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!

We're fans of the dumbest team in the NFL.

It's really hard to imagine that this is true. But the same time it's really not that hard.

I can't believe some of the things that this team has been doing since they fired Mayo.

Imagine if they have a 5 or 6 win season? Which is way more likely than not. **** will hit the fan real quick for Vrabel. I don't think he quite understands what he's got him self into and or he doesn't give a ****.

No one is more upset than Savage.

Too bad Milton can't play preseason caliber defenses every week or maybe he'd be good.

Imagine.. Joe Milton is the piece Dallas has been missing all of these years

Doubtful, but man, I'd much rather have him on the Pats than give him away for a 5th. Gadget, tricks, hail marys, development etc

Bummed

Everyone in here gaslighting people who wanted more value- there was more value to be had and the Patriots didn't take it. Absolutely unreal.
i dont think this is true at all. In fact I didnt think anyone would trade a pick for him.

Even started a thread on it a while back.

Agreed there wozzy.. I've seen enough in Drake to see the potential.. he has the coaching and he has the determination and hunger..

I'm annoyed. I liked the idea of watching a mobile quarterback with a rocket arm make preseason fun to watch. Now thats gone and we will have to now waste draft capital looking for a new developmental qb prospect.

The point of developing a young QB is to develop him into more value. Not give him away for equal value.
That's what I've been saying. They had NO reason to trade him this year. And, even if he wanted out, too bad! You keep him one more season and if he develops, then you can get more. This trade (especially the "compensation"), was ridiculous.

So it's of your opinion that his value will be less next year and even less the year after?

Both in terms of trade value and of on field value?
