Brady on free agent losses: "[Adam Vinatieri] is a great teammate. The most clutch kicker in NFL history. A future Hall of Famer. He’ll always be a good friend. I hate to see him go to the Colts. I hate to see him go anywhere other than kick for us but that’s part of what this league is built on. We’ve just got to try to regroup, try to fill that void and obviously we wish him the best of luck. Everybody wanted David Givens back and everybody wanted Willie McGinest back and Tom Ashworth. ... But I think those guys had great opportunities in other places and they decided to explore those opportunities. That’s their right and that’s what they’ve earned and it is hard for me, as a player, to say, ‘Guys, you shouldn’t do that. You should have stayed with us.’ Because they wanted to go on. They wanted to test the free agent market and hopefully they are happy with where they’re at.â€

Brady on Rodney Harrison: “I don’t think there’s any player on our team that works harder than Rodney and Rodney was out there the other day running and cutting. It’s been a tough injury for him but if there’s one guy who can come back from that injury it's Rodney Harrison. ... He’s the best defensive player I’ve ever played with. When we beat the Eagles [in Super Bowl XXXIX], Rodney Harrison was the MVP of that team, he was the MVP of that Super Bowl. I know Deion [Branch] won it and believe me there’s nobody who loves Deion more than me but Rodney Harrison, if you were a Patriots fan, you knew who the best player on the team was. It was Rodney Harrison, without a doubt.â€

Brady on Richard Seymour: “I think Richard has more respect from everybody than any other player on our team. He’s such a young man in age but he’s so mature and so professional. He’s had a lot of tough things happen in his life. ... I know how thrilled I was [bout his contract extension]. He’s one of my closest friends on the team.â€

Amen, amen, amen!

I listened to the replay on the way into work this morning.

Brady is SUCH the team player and good soldier!

Regarding the free agents that chose to leave New England, he must have said 10 times, in a number of different ways:

"Those guys chose to leave. What can you do? They wanted to test the market. New England made them fair offers, but they've earned the right to test the market. They were good friends, but they've moved on. I am concentrating on the players left here. I wish them well except when they play us.", etc.

Translation:

"I can't believe these dumb-***e$ would want to play anywhere but here, but they're money-grubbing b@$t@rd$, so what can you do?"

Harrison was hands-down the MVP against the Eagles. My opinion he was totally robbed. But Branch did have a nice game also and we all know its gonna be a QB, RB or WR for MVP..... unfortunately

Harrison can't get a Pro-bowl selection despite being one of the best safeties in the game. The guy has been black balled by the league, no matter how great he plays they are not going to vote him to clean out the stables. He was the MVP and we all knew it, but the BS voting denied it to him.

I've always felt the same way.

All will be forgiven when he gets inducted into the hall of fame, finally getting the respect he deserves. Of course he'll probably be one of those players that has to wait like 10 years (like Carson), even though he should be first ballot or close to it.

Brady talking about Harrison reminded me of Larry Bird talking about Dennis Johnson.

The winners appreciate the guy who flies under the media radar but is simply a winner.

Tom Brady has one agenda. The guy who most helps him win, is the guy he likes the best.

for reasons beyond anyones comprehension, they hate to vote in safeties. I've argued that he is, behind Lott, the second greatest pure safety in league history. As we all know he's unfairly perceived as a dirty, spiteful and intentionally malicious player -- even if that were true, which I don't believe, how else should the position be played? IT'S FOOTBALL -- it's a dirty, violent, and intentionally malicious game -- if Rodney is dirty, then so are 90% of the guys who already have bronze busts. IMO he's one of 4 from the team (TB, Sey, Rod, AV, in that order) who should end up in Canton, but I'm honestly not holding my breath.

this is a sore issue for me -- as is the fact that around 2.5 to 1 of the enshrined players are from the offensive side. I've always believed players, coaches, and former football people should be making the call rather than senile journalists who have never played the game and often give in to media/fan pressures that they themselves help create.

Just a reminder that disrespect is what drives Rodney. If he'd won the MVP and the caddy what would he say? "If (fill in the blank had won) the caddy would have been bigger?"

I for one, would like Rodney to continue to be denied his rightful place at the pro bowl and all the other in season honors until he retires. Then he can go to the hall.
