Best part for me was that he practices so that the receivers will have sun in their eyes.

Both Gronk and Amendola have reported making big catches this season without being able to see the ball.

Save this link to send to anyone who tries to detract from Brady's accomplishments because, "He just throws a few yards down the field, then the receiver gets all the yards after the catch." Brady's preparation and obsession with accuracy allows those catches to happen on the move, or puts them in position to take advantage of blocking. Great stories.

Nothing ever convinces haters, it's why they are haters. I know plenty of people who still say that Brady is just a system qb and nothing will convince them otherwise

To those detractors, I always say, "Why doesn't anyone else do it?" If it's so simple, why isn't it replicated across the league?

I equate it to golf. Drive for show, putt for dough. You can go 450 yards in 3 big shots, then take 3 more shots to go those last 5 yards because of a lack of precision.

But that does Brady a disservice. He does have a big arm, big hands, and throws a perfect spiral which cuts through all conditions. His lack of downfield targets has more to do with the type of receivers he's given. He maximizes what they do best and vice versa. His one season with Moss showed what he could do downfield with the proper target.

If anything that argument really makes other teams see extra stupid. Especially if it comes from a fan of a team that has forked out big bucks for a field stretcher. So it's that easy to just dink and dunk, but you support your team in signing a big name field stretching WR that costs over $10M a year?

This is sadly true.

With the exception of Curran, Howe and maybe a couple of others, there are better, more well written, more informative pieces about the team written by journalists outside of this region than inside it.

I swear 1/2 the articles written by Boston-based journalists are either a hatchet-job or an op-ed piece that put the team in an unsubstantiated negative light.

If anything that argument really makes other teams see extra stupid. Especially if it comes from a fan of a team that has forked out big bucks for a field stretcher. So it's that easy to just dink and dunk, but you support your team in signing a big name field stretching WR that costs over $10M a year?

Yeah, the Patriots had a top-5 passing offense built upon 0 first rounders and 0 receivers making $10M+ (although Gronk is close at $9M average per year).

It also reminds me of the Lombardi Packers and their power sweep. It seems simple. Everyone knows the offense relies on it. They prepare all week for it. But they just can't stop it. So how easy is it then if nobody else can replicate it and nobody else can consistently stop it?

And people really do play down the short passing game more than they should. It requires a real precision and accuracy from the QB to maximize. If you throw a slant into a receiver's body, you might complete it for a 5-yard gain. But if you throw it a bit ahead of the receiver, he can continue to run and pick up 5 or 6 more yards. The windows open up and close quicker, the decisions need to be made so much quicker, there's less room for adjustments from receivers...on and on and on, it's actually not as easy as people think just because it's a shorter throw.

We've all seen those deep passes where the receiver has time to come back to the ball or make an adjustment on their route or come back inside. True, the DB also has time to adjust, but the receiver has several advantages on every pass play. But there's pretty much no margin for error in shorter passes. If you're off by 3 feet on a deep ball, that might be completed. If you're off by half a foot on a short pass, that might be an interception.
