Jeff Hostetler played Qb. Simms still had the broken foot.

You are right. I got it backwards. Simms got them there (or most of the way there) and then Hostetler took over.

For those wondering, here's all the QBs who have won a Super Bowl at 34+. Obviously some were a lot more important to their team than others.

34
Brad Johnson (2003)
Len Sawson (1970)
Bart Starr (1968)

35
Roger Staubach (1978)

36
Jim Plunkett (1984)

37
John Elway (1998)
Johnny Unitas (1971)

38
John Elway (1999)

Most SB QBs fall within the 26-33 age range.

You acknowledge that they played differentiated roles in these games and you are technically right on Unitas in 1970/71. He started that game, completing three of nine passes and throwing for a long TD and two picks before being replaced by Earl Morrall in the second quarter. Morrall led them on the game winning drives in the fourth quarter and was 7 of 15 with a pick.

Good catch on Plunkett. I usually don't mention him because he's not in the HOF.

Yea I'm trying to remember when Simms got hurt. Week 15 maybe???
