5-0 in their first five Super Bowls.

0-5 in their last five Super Bowls.

Who cares, this post makes no sense. If Tyree doesn't make that catch or Wes makes his, it's a different stat.

teams win championships not one player

After you win SB's you get more $ which means less money for the players around you and the teams you bring aren't as strong.

Take away a helmet catch = Patriots have 4 SB wins.
Welker makes that catch in 2011 = Patriots have 5 SB wins.

So much for the money theory.

One vote for statistical anomaly. At the least can we all throw the "experience advantage" argument out the window?

Super Bowls are basically a 50/50 shot with a TON of variance. Once you're there, pretty much everything leading up to that goes out the window.

They're not 0-5 in their last 5.

01 Pats W 1-0
03 Pats W 2-0
04 Pats W 3-0
05 Steelers W 4-0
06 Colts W 5-0
07 Pats L 5-1
08 Steelers W 6-1
09 Colts L 6-2
10 Steelers L 6-3
11 Pats L 6-4
13 Broncos L 6-5

The crazier thing to notice is that the only seasons in this stretch without Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger in the Super Bowl were 2002 and 2012.

The NFL encourages parity. If anything it's incredible that those three have played in 11 of the past 13 Super Bowls and have won 6 of those 13. Being ~.500 in the Super Bowls they've played in is the only thing that makes sense when you look at what that trio has done.

Don't forget Asante Samuel's dropped INT. Both of those games still bug me!
