Ben Roethlisberger: 21-27, 369 yards, 3 TD vs. 49ers
Tom Brady: 38-59, 466 yards, 3 TD vs. Bills

Brady passed for more yardage against the Bills than any other quarterback has done in the 56-year history of that franchise.

During that game, he became the first player in NFL history to have the following combination in the same game: 450 or more passing yards, three passing touchdowns, no interceptions and 55 or more passing attempts.

He was going up against the highest paid front 4 in the NFL (those players are worth quarter billion dollars) and went surgical on a Top 5 defense in the League. And whereas Ben was playing at a home game, Brady and Pats were trying to contend with a notoriously hostile (and loud) crowd.

They do not use strength of opponent on these.

1. Surprised at this -- would have given it to Brady given quality of opponent
2. I find this stuff utterly meaningless
3. In Ben's defense, he was completely spectacular in terms of accuracy -- 5 of 6 on passes traveling 30 or more yards in the air downfield, the most such completions in the last decade. As good as I've ever seen him throw it....That said, still would have ranked Brady ahead

4. (did I mention, this stuff is utterly meaningless?)

You get more of what you encourage. The masses love this so the NYJFL wants more of this.

Both deserved it. Maybe they flipped a coin and Ben won?

There are exactly two awards Brady truly cares about.

One of them comes with a car (which he doesn't care about).

One of them comes with a ring (which he does).

Bill Belichick will make sure that the Patriots players care.
Good. But, as a fan, it's hard for me to muster up much care about this. I expect to see it happen to Brady and other Patriots a lot over the course of the season.
