That's becaue you are fan and you try to make more out of these things than the actual players do. Brady and Branch are friends, not crazy fans who live their lives through other people. I'm sure Brady is going to stop talking to his friends around the league because you and others are bothered by it. My guess is he doesn't give a damn what you think and you should probably remember that this is just a game and not live or death. If it's really bothering and confusing you that much, my advice would be to get a life for Christ sakes.

Ron Borges you go get a life. This is the United States of America I have a right to have an opinion and not be insulted for having one. You don't like my opinion, fine. No need to be insulting about it.

You are probably right. But Brady hasn't looked sharp the last two weeks,IMO. At first I thought it was because of the lack of chemistry between him and his new WRs.

That's EXACTLY the problem. We lost our two starting receivers. Troy Brown is the only receiver we have who knows all the plays. All of our other receivers are still learning it. Plus, Brady doesn't know how all of his receivers like to run their routes. It takes thousands of repititions to develop some chemistry and continuity.

So please, stop trying to make a big deal out of Tom Brady calling Hasselback, or Tom Brady being stressed out over the whole Branch trade. It's simply the fact that he has a new group to work with and they haven't been together very long.

No, it's not. I've read in a couple places how Brady often talks to top players on other teams, many times to get or give advice.

Agreed. People are making too much of this.

Relax.

Ditto that! Brady is the BEST leader in the NFL. So he called a friend in to tell him what a great guy he got in Branch. Wow, what a knock on his leadership!

The Pats are 2-0 and so far I think that means we are leading our division. Seriously, what do some of you want from Brady other than perfection every week on and off the field. This kid is a gem and we are so lucky to have him. Amazing how every little move he makes are so scrutinized by fans who have enjoyed the benefits (CHAMPIONSHIPS) of his talents and leadership.

Some fans do not deserve to have Brady as their QB! I honestly think Brady would be more highly regarded and respected in another city other than Boston. What do we want from him...? Do we want him singing Yumbaya around a campfire everynight with special needs kids or volunteering at animal shelters and nursing homes in his spare time?????

You guys obviously haven't seen the Wednesday press conference where Brady said, into the camera - not rehashed by another person,

They are like the NBA allstars who went to the last Olympics (you remember the losing team), and each was a good athlete but they didn't have much time to practice together, or play together and they had no chemistry.

He came right out and said it, left it lying on the table. Didn't try to minimize the problem, or talk about fixing it (at least in the clip they showed on NFLN).

And in this USA, anyone has a right to point out when your opinions are idiotic and infantile. Nothing in pointing this out affects your personal unalienable right to having opinions and posting your opinions. You do not, and should not, have a right to post opinions with the expection that your opinions will not be attacked.

Keep the solid analysis coming!

Brady is a class guy, acting like a class guy, and a leader. Most here would like Brady to "lead" by telling every one that Branch is gone, and that no one should ever talk to him or anyone else about him again. That isn't leadership. An important part of TEAM chemistry is to be able to mourn the loss of critical members of the TEAM. I know this is so hard for Red Sox fans who are used to 25 players with 25 limos waiting for them after the game. There are probably players who still call Ty or Lawyer on a regular basis, and certainly play golf together, and join in charity appearances. If everyone simply stopped calling or thinking about Branch, and just treated him as a cog in the team to be replacable and not missed; THEN I would be worried about this team.

Personally I loved the way the team reacted to Milloy, with an immediate loss and then a Super Bowl. This team will recover from the losses of Branch and Givens, but that recovery could be months away.

He is moving on, it's just it's slow going when you don't yet have something to move on to. Trust your first instincts - it is about not having chemistry with three new WR's, two of whom he didn't have a camp to build a relationship with either and one of which never saw our playbook before week 1.

This is week 3, take a deep breath and let the team build it's chemistry.

I am not bothered by this at all.

To sum up my feelings, Tom Brady is a HUGE reason we have won three Superbowls and this franchise has given me so many great moments over the last several years. There is nothing he could say or do in this lifetime that could ever make me angry at him.

Simple as that.

Players call players from other teams all the time. Just because your on 1 team and a former teammate goes to another team doesn't mean they aren't friends any more or they won't/can't call the other team and say nice things about that player. This stuff happens all the time. Get over it.

I didn't like it either and not because Brady was complimentary to Branch but because he went out of his way to call Hasselback (from my understanding) to compliment Branch. To do that during the SEASON, after Branch had breached his contractual obligations to the Patriots AND adversely affected the Patriots chances of winning this year is quite peculiar, particularly for someone who claims that winning is of paramount importance to him. No one is suggesting that Brady should never ever speak to Branch or ever be complimentary about him but only that his focus DURING THE SEASON should be on HIS team and not on pumping up players from OTHER teams. Now if Hasselback called HIM to ask him about Branch, I have no problem with what he said and THAT could be considered "classy". Taking time to call another player to compliment someone whose actions negatively affected YOUR team is not something a "leader" does.

Hasselbeck and Brady are friends...Hasselbeck said his own father calls Brady during the season to say hello and check in on him and said even his own Dad would take Brady over himself. That seems like a pretty close relationship to me.

This is the NFL not Al Queda against the USA. Give me a break already!

This HAPPENS all the time in sports.

If you listen or read the comments from his teammates, especially his new recievers, I don't think you will find any comments about how Tom is NOT supporting them. They all seem to be in awe of the time and dedication he puts in and expects from them. Brady was quoted on EEI this week of saying that was about 10-12 hours a day. Doing whatever he can to get this thing on track. Poor leadership my arse!!!!

That is exactly what bothers me about this. I know Brady and Branch were close, it's natural for him to be upset about the trade. But if he is still mourning his loss that badly, then yes we have a problem.

Close is one thing. From his reaction, though, you'd think Branch was his homosexual lover or something. It's like his girlfriend dumped him and he just can't get over it. Move on already.

One of the perils of having a metrosexual QB I guess.

Get over it already!? the unfair thing is that this phone call happened the day after it was official. So I guess that would be almost two weeks ago.

So the fans need to get over it, I am sure Brady has aleady gotten over it.

My parents went to the same church as the Hasselbeck's (in Norfolk, MA when he was a kid and my mother taught him in Sunday school.

I used to go occasionally, and the first time I did, I remember seeing this super tall guy with a receding hairline and thinking, "Is that Don Hasselbeck?".

One of my claims to fame. Drew Bledsoe bought a house about 1/2 mile from where I used to pump gas as a kid. Long after I stopped pumping gas though. Ray Berry used to live in my hometown and I went to school with his kids, Mark and Ashley.

By all accounts, it seems that the Hasselbecks are a good family...I have heard nothing but good things about Matt and Tim from their days at BC.

I thought it was kinda cool that Don has befriended the 'enemy' Brady. How dare he. Poor judgement to befriend a bum like Tom Brady!

This is the worst post I have read at this site. Not only do you manage to completely misunderstand the basic fact that athletes who perform together on superbowl teams form unbreakable friendships, but then you drag this completely imaginary 'homo' crap into it. That's what trolls are supposed to do.

This is as moronic a post as I can remember. 'Move on Already' is perhaps the only thing that makes any sense in this post, but I would instead say 'Time to think about putting this behind you and getting to know your new WRs.'

This 'homo' crap is just made-up garbage, and it makes me sick that Pats fans are so wishy-washy on this topic, the guy is straight and so what if he is 'metro'. I can't believe people are so incapable of understanding that Brady is a family guy who always has a girlfriend.

This thread was bad enough in questioning Brady's leadership over a stupid phone message(by the way, it was a message, not a conversation that Brady left for Hasselbeck according to Tomase). So the guy gets attached to his friends/teammantes who he invests most of his life to, not only during the season but in the off season. He gets emotional and due to that NOW we are questioning his sexuality.

Seriously, some Pats fans are as low as Jets fans and that is just sad!

This thread has really put me in a foul mood!! If we can't support Brady or at least give the guy the benefit of the doubt at this point, then who can we support? Would you rather have your QB riding motorcyles without a helmet, or choking time after time in the playoffs, or not showing up for the off season programs? or how about f'ing around with any sleaze he can get his hands on and showing up drunk to clubs in Vegas, LA and NYC...? If he was or did any of the above mentioned, I would say, 'sure, take your shots', but Brady has yet to prove that he is NOT a leader or a team guy and certainly a phone message should not change that. In fact, it has been quite the opposite concerning Brady. He seems to go over the top in supporting his teammates to the point of making sure they are included in national TV spots or never throwing them under the bus and always taking the blame like he has in the past 2 weeks.

So, what do we expect from Brady? Do we want him to be an unfeeling robot or a human that expresses his emotions and feelings? Whether some of you agree with his actions or not, I think it is completely absurd to question Brady's leadership and sexuality over a damned phone message in which he was just conveying positive thoughts for a good friend to a good friend.

That's the whole point, Brady hasn't gotten over it. That why as a Pats fans Im concerned. I don't understand why we can't fairly criticize him.
