We agree and are probably both showing an undue amount of interest in the finances of these two "rich and famous" folks.
Ms. Bundchen has been making big, big bucks for a long time. Assuming they're invested wisely, they will jointly be billionaires before the end of the decade. I've gotten to know a couple of very rich folks in my business and social life (unfortunately I'm not among them..."sigh"). One of them, the founder of a company whose name you would recognize instantly, told me over a drink that, in his experience, the divide between "rich" (someone like Goodell and, at the lower end, someone like Pash) and "really rich" comes at around $750 million net worth. I asked him why and he said, "that's when you can buy your own Gulfstream and not have to worry about the cost." Then he smiled.
It's all about the plane. Pretenders have their NetJets memberships, real wealth has personal hangers with different size planes.
A few years back a friend invited me to accompany him while he fixed a problem at a billionaire's home in the Bahamas. We show up at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and board the rich guy's cargo plane that will carry workers and equipment for the day. Parked next to his cargo plane is his Lear and his Gulfstream. Waiting at the Bahamian airport are a fleet personal vans with full time drivers. At his compound that included 5 houses was a full time staff of 8.....all for the billionaire that spends two weeks a year at this vacation destination.
At my kids' high school, there is some sick wealth as well. One student rarely goes to class but her "tutor" attends classes for her to take notes while she competes in equestrian events all over the country.....using daddy's planes....one for the horses, one for her.
Another family rang up their daughter's college of choice, flew down the school' business development executive on the family's Gulfstream, and proceeded to cut a $35 million check for two new buildings and an admissions acceptance letter.
I could go on all day how these wealthy folks operate. My personal favorite......years back, another family threw a massive birthday party for their little kids in the ballroom of a ritzy resort and the theme was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory....so of course they flew in appropriately sized Oompa Loompas on their jet to give the party a more authentic feel. Same family wheeled in a Ferrari for their 14 year old son's bar mitzvah.
One more.......another super rich family felt the need to have extended play dates for their five year old who was having trouble making friends.....so they invited 3 families (one each week) to join them on their 190 yacht and cruise to their privately owned Bahamian island where they would set up a treasure hunt. Each morning of the treasure hunt, the ship's helicopter would ferry crew members onto the island to set up the treasure hunt in advance. Needless to say, this little girl became very popular....especially by parents who wanted to get such an invite.
I could go on and on.
