Bonds' trainer mentions Brady--LINK

sad/mad to hear it came up on espn.

if this has no legs it will obviously die out, but how long will it take to determine that, and what will happen to his rep in between?

good news is he's still skinny (despite all the creatine he was drinking back in 2000)...this could ultimately save him from being tarnished.

But whether we want to address it on this board or not, that won't stop those who are jealous (and this is exactly what I was afraid of) from trying to start an avalanche with a snowball.

God help this Anderson guy if I ever run into him...and don't get me started on why the hell any of this was germaine in the first place.

the court is out of control...flying off the tracks out of control. That's what disturbs me. Innocence is irrelevant...they can kill you just because they want to, because they can and they are in love with their own power.

This has about the same legs as the Belichick named as the other man celebrity name dropping by another jerk hoping to shift focus in his court case. Tempest in a teapot. There are 16 more pre season games to be played in the next 5 days - that should sufficiently distract the audience for this one.

Tom looks like he has roids body.

The only shot he had to get was the pennicilin after dating Tara Reid...

Someone on another board did make a good point about some players taking steroids just to recover from an injury and not to get stronger. That being said, I still don't think this is the case but I also don't think this is something to just be shrugged off.

neither does lance armstrong.

I do hope yours is the consensus reaction...just laugh it off.

I have a similar build to tom and it's tough to pack on muscle....he went up about 10%-15% in a year...I know for a fact he lived in the gym and still does, so he definitely didn't inject any miracle grow.

Again, my fear isn't so much that he did anything he could regret and would therefore deserve being destroyed for (particularly relative to the real monsters in this league) but that his name will be destroyed regardless.

People will WANT to believe it...and without being cleared by the court they will have all the doubt they need to cast their shadow.

If it does blow up, I expect/hope Tom would pursue direct legal action against the grand jury...which right now is so full of demafatory leaks it's insane.

Well, I'm glad you can laugh while our qb is in the middle of a steroids crapstorm.

Well at the end of Reiss update this morning he has this blurb: "More to come after the team's 2:30 p.m. practice. Quarterback Tom Brady is expected to speak with the media after that workout."

So maybe you'll have more to speculate on at that time.

I'm not speculating on anything. His name has been brought up in this mess and that's bad enough IMO.

Sorry, thought this was speculation but it's really just a lot of 'I don't think's.'

Some people will want to believe and some like yourself and huskertroll will want to focus on it, wallow in it and beat the it has potential drum like a dead horse.

The last thing Tom will to is persue anything that draws attention to it. Same as coach, ignore it and it goes away. That too is human nature at work. We live in a world full of kneejerks with equally limited attention spans who just happen to be the demographic the tabloid sports media preys upon for ratings. Folks like yourself just fuel that beast.

Yea, so does Alex Sanchez.... oops, you're a dummy who thinks there's a such thing as a "steroids body."

This will blow over, but it's a pain in the back side for him and the team. The fact that he has to defend himself against this garbage is ridiculous.

Okay, so I'm a troll because I think negative press is bad whether the guy is guilty of the accusations or not? Some of you guys are freakin' unreal.

yes, I am a "fool" for not pretending to be cool with any of this...this board cracks me up.

If you have a sense of humor go to Deadspin and read the replies to their story on this (sorry, I can't paste links right now because i'm using firefox).

It's therapeutic, if like me, you were freaking out (secretly or openly).

hysterical thing is Brady-haters can't dig into this without first admitting he has a strong arm...and they just can't do it.

too funny.

p.s. sounds like feds may have seen tom's # in a rolodex or something...which doesn't make me any less pissed at the feds or anderson's idiot lawyer. hope today is the last we hear of it.

Well then I think it's best if you take a deep breath and look at this unemotionally. Anderson claims that he called Brady, talked to him over one phone call and has never talked to him after that. That's it. Whatever others want to do with that information you have no control over.

The Feds aren't going to be knocking down Tom's door to have him tesitify. The NFL is not going to submit him into its substance abuse program over this. He'll be starting against the Bills on opening day. And the world will focus on more important things like whether Paris Hilton really has a career in music.

If he's passed the NFL steroid tests then BFD. It's a moot point.

Does anyone seriously think Tom Brady is on any sort of drugs?
OMG! This idiot CALLED BRADY - Brady didn't even pick up the phone to call him and by all accounts...that IS IT!

Why are most people freak'in about this and why does MSN have Brady on their home page with the headline "Brady linked to Balco"....The media sucks!

This is not a "good thing."

When the story is about a three-time SB QB with two SB MVP's and a golden image and when that QB was seated at a State of the Union as a guest of the President and First Lady, and when the same QB is connected first, and innocuously, by friendship to Barry Bonds but is now connected by a phone call, which was disclosed in a Federal investigation, to Bonds' (now infamous) trainer inquiring about his services, no matter how innocent, there is no doubt that the story will be picked up all over the media and will be played and replayed and will have "legs."

No matter how wrong it might be, no matter how unfair it might be, no matter how absurd it might be, no matter how unjust it might be, the media will sniff around this story until there is nothing left to sniff and then they'll throw down some dirt and sniff some more.

Fasten your seat belts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride...

``Any time, as an athlete, you're even mentioend in something like this, it's disaapointing,'' Brady said. ``But it was long time ago. I was back in the Bay area. I wanted to work out for a day. I knew he had a gym. I called, he wasn't around. That was about it. That was the first of it and the last of it. Five years later, I guess it's a big deal. That's kind of t he entire extent.''
