For a former player, Zo is remarkably bad at explaining the game. In that he doesn't. At all.

Bob and Zo never tell you who is in the game. In preseason that is important. I can't bring myself to watch the twin cast. I watched five minutes of the Mannings once. Don't need to watch guys talking about anything other than the game. Paul Petrillo brings nothing to the telecast. I miss the old timers who reported on the game and didn't have contrived story lines and inserts from third parties that add nothing to the game.

Poor Zo. He better change his ways, IMO.

That was the beautiful thing about the way Madden called a game usually. He'd use terms, and then EXPLAIN them.

I try not to listen to the announcers now by putting the volume down low. It's not like the good ole days when we had men trained in the profession instead of ex-jocks.

I would give up announcers for a quick replay of every down. It's evolved to where they seem to think they should be talking non stop.
