Blount is a player that should have been better than he was statistically speaking. He had the frame and talent to be a feature back but was rarely used like one. He got 299 attempts here one season an 201 attempts his rookie year. Those are the only times he went over 200 runs and the only 2 times he went over 1,000 yards. I think Blount had it in him to be a 10,000+ yard back instead of a 6300 yards.

Lagarrette was a wonderful Patriot and I missed him after he left and I wish Pats had signed him again!! He's like McGinest to me. Elite talent and love them. And you look at their overall career totals and a bit less than you'd think.

Add that to Billy's Blunders Greatest Hits Collection. Regarding the 3.9 yards per carry, Blount's rebuttal should've been that the average goes down every time he's getting carries near the goal line as lot of those TD's were easy walk in 1-2 yard runs. Also, many runs were in obvious short yardage situations where teams were selling out to stop the run.

And this isn't the first time Billy's Blunder cost them a big game, passing on Emmanuel Sanders in 2014 came back to haunt him in the 2015 AFCCG as he caught a few back breaking 3rd down passes and led them in receiving yards.

Blount was a nice player for the Pats but do not see how the Pats letting him go created any issues offensively. They rushed for almost the exact same yards in 2017 as they had in 2016 and for a better YPC. They also scored a few more points in total. In the Super Bowl the Pats clearly did not need any additional help offensively as they marched up and down the field repeatedly. Blount did have a couple nice runs against them as an Eagle but that is not a reason why they should have kept him.
