Around the AFC East: Defensive Tackleratings - Pats Pulpit

It's clear he has #1 and #2 bassackwards, but it was a nice try. He leaves out Kyle Williams of Buffalo off this list, and doesn't consider how NE and Miami play a base 3-4, but use their 3-4 DE at DT in sub-packages, the NYJ will be using the hybrid 46 Sexy Rexy ran in Baltimore, it morphs into 3-4 and 4-3 packages as desired.

BOR's take:

1. Seymour
2-Tie. Wilfork, Warren
4. Jenkins - Why four? Endurance, the other three above may not be as powerful or disruptive on a play-to-play basis, but over the course of a game and a season they'll still produce at a high level while Jenkins is grabbing oxygen.
5-Tie. Stroud/Kyle Williams - Williams averages 50 TT over his three year career.
7-Tie. Ferguson/Green/Wright - Three different players, with three different skills sets, but each gets similar production, Green has better numbers, but Fergusen and Wright are better at eating blockers, Wright is a better pass rusher than Ferguson, but not as good at eating blockers, Ferguson has a better career average, but the other two are part time players, a balancing act for sure.
10. LeKevin Smith and the rest of the AFCE DT pool all bunch up at this point, I've seen LeKevin play, but not enough of the others to do a fair comparison.

Glad to see Seymour ranks at the top since he hasnt been as productive as his starting years. I wish he did and with his help we'd probably have 5 (06', 07') lombardis instead of 3. IMO

I'm okay with him leaving Seymour and Warren out on the grounds that they don't play DT in the base defense, but Jenkins over Wilfork is just dumb. Even if he is better when he's healthy, he never is. He might as well go and claim that Brett Favre was the best QB in the division last year, since he was pretty good for 11 games before he went and sucked epically for the last 5.

Jenkins individually and the Jets defense in total had better run stats than Wilfork and the Pats D over the whole season, and I believe both he and Wilfork averaged ~35 plays per game. (We know Wilfork averaged 37 snaps per game thanks to Reiss)

A lot of that is influenced by the inside linebackers, but the Jets don't really have studs back there either.
