Bills trade DT McCargo to Colts

As it turns out, the Bills were involved in some trade-deadline maneuverings. But it didn’t involve the player for whom Bills fans were pining.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports defensive tackle John McCargo has been shipped from Buffalo to Indianapolis. Compensation currently isn’t known.

McCargo was one of three North Carolina State defensive linemen taken in the first round of the 2006 draft, along with defensive end Mario Williams (No. 1 overall to the Texans) and defensive end (now linebacker) Manny Lawson (No. 22 overall to the 49ers). The Bills selected McCargo with the 26th overall pick.

In two-plus years, McCargo had 25 games appearances but no starts.

For the Colts, McCargo likely will be an immediate starter, given their struggles at the position. Quinn Pit****, a third-round pick in 2007, quit football prior to training camp. Ed Johnson, an undrafted free agent, was cut after being arrested for possession of marijuana.

He should do well there. Good trade for the Colts, I bet they didn't have to sell the ranch for him either.

This bugs me because Colts benefit and so do division rival Buffal with another TBA draft pick. Bummah.

reminds me of them trading for macfarland to win the sb in 06

but mccargo isn't as good as booger was

For a 4th round pick I like this move. Colts did well with the run D Sunday but needed another big body.

Hopefully a new team can motivate him like what happened with Booger in 06.

The Bills give up their lackluster first round pick for an Indy 4th... Indy gets an underachiever they hope will make a minimal effort for them - advantage Indy if they can get him to perform, but as a Pats' fan you have to appreciate two rivals scrambling to make some kind of soup out of chicken sh!t.

He reportedly failed his physical due to a bad back. He's Buffalo's again.
