This is what I would have said if Volin had asked me that question.
"Ben, you salacious liar".
"whatever the odds are don't mean a thing to us. It doesn't change our preparation. I doesn't change our game plan. It won't change our mind set. All we can do this week is go 1-0, learn from the mistakes we make and then get ready for the next week and try to get better for the next week. That is what an NFL season is all about. It is a grind where you work your ass off and hope for a few hours of joy when you win, before you have to go back to that grind and do it again."
[
"We've had a LOT of those few hours a week, Ben, you loathsome individual, the players have certainly made this season a lot more enjoyable than the ones this team has gone through the last couple of years. Fortunately, we are not even close to being the team we feel can eventually be. We are now playing December football and every game's importance is magnified even more and what we have done the last 3 months won't mean much if you don't rise to the occasion these last 4 weeks.
So Ben.......God you creep me out, I don't care if the odds makers don't believe in us. I don't care if the media feels we lucked into our 11-2 record. I ONLY care about the people we have in our building and it's my job to have them ready at 1pm on Sunday. See you then.'
I never understood why people got upset when the media or other fans "disrespected" us. WHO CARES! Rodney is right, we should embrace being the underdog, we should DEMAND being the underdog in every game. Maye should be saying at his pressers. "When I go back and look at the film, I cannot believe how badly I played. GOD, all the mistakes sometimes overwhelm me, and Josh has to take time out and ground me. Everyy game I'm hoping I can earn the trust of my teammates and sometimes I wonder...."
