Bills fans take on Maye

Except it wasn’t really vanilla on defense.

Their ran a ton of blitz stunts, creeper pressure and exotic safety rotation trying to confuse Maye
Your right. I've used the bills defense as an example of guys that aren't known household names but they play well together and don't embarrass themselves like our defense does.

Careful. If I recall, Ted "Theodore" Logan wound up going to the military school, joining the Army, was recognized for his moral flexibility, recruited by the CIA to be an assassin, got out, went into private business for himself, and became "John Wick".

At least, that's what I want to believe...

I'm not going anywhere near his dog or his car so I should be safe

Not really his role on that play.

It’s a scissors concept with Hooper running the corner and Bourne running the post. Bourne’s route is supposed to hold and take away the single high safety. Problem is Bourne got mugged on his route which 1) screwed Hooper route 2) allowed the safety to completely ignore Bourne. Nothing that Maye could’ve done to hold him.

Onwenu allowed an inside pressure on the play forcing Maye to throw with anticipation to the spot where Hooper should have been.

Also Maye being able to manipulate LB and S with his eyes and pumps is one of the most impressive thing he is able to do for a rookie. It’s very clear that Maye is rarely fooled by coverage and is really good for a rookie at reading defenses.

It was a badly executed scissors. Bourne also allowed himself to get his clock cleaned by Hooper's man (or maybe he flopped to avoid an OPI). Hooper has to know the FS is sitting right there but he kept going vertical which allowed the FS to undercut his route for the INT. If he flattens and uses his body, he has inside leverage with the FS shaded to the outside with absolutely no chance to deny.

Maye made the correct throw here. He threw to a place just past where the cleansing actions of the scissors happens.

But if you look at both Maye and the reaction of the FS, you will see Maye telegraphs which causes the FS to jump and commit before the scissors even cross. So I think Maye has to be faster at looking off after locking the free man in place.

There’s not a defense in the NFL that was stopping that TD. It was perfection and was unguardable.

But after that throw, Maye struggled. And Im not really sure why. He also had a tendency to freak out when we brought pressure.

But overall - pretty damn good.
As Zo was saying the temapture and the wind chill in Buffalo affected drake's throws.. also I believe it's said he's never played in that type of cold. Allen struggled too throwing the ball prior to him getting hurt. Buffalo I admire their defense becuase none of those guys are anything close to all pros but they play well together and are well Coached. Allen is phenomenal and I hope Drake gets to the level Allen is at. I believe Ravens and Chiefs will be in the AFCCG

Not sure if you saw the Bills postgame. The players were saying they just played a very vanilla game plan because they didn’t need to do much to beat NE.

But if you’re proud of 14 points through 50-some minutes of playing… well… I don’t want to take that away from you.
When I hear a Bills fan talking about game plans it makes me think of the Giants game plan to shut down the K Gun offense which now sits in the hall of fame.

Josh Allen’s early outings against the Patriots were nothing to write home about. It’s not who players are when they come into the NFL, it’s who they turn out to be. The jump from college is huge, they go from playing mostly against guys they are better than to facing guys that are already better than them( for the most part). I feel like you really don’t get to know who players really are until half way through their second season.

Generally complimentary. Think he’s more comparable with Herbert than Josh Allen. I’d sign up for that.
But when you compare him with Josh Allen in his first year...

He was impressive. Then again, so was Mac Jones his rookie year.

But I think he will be much better than Mac Jones. And Tua.
They are very different prospects. Mac was supposed at least to be a sure-fire acceptable but low ceiling guy, Drake was supposed to be more of a risk given his "issues" (most of which turned out to be pretty mythological: remember all the pantytwisting over his foot work, his "lack fo accuracy," his opting to run too soon in a pay, and so on.?).

The real difference, though, is probably in their physical skillsets: arm strength, running ability, size. The differences in toughness, character, ans above all leadership skills are striking.

We are the same page in the end, of course. He will likely be a better QB than Tua and he's a lock to be better than Mac.
