Always thought that Paul Brown, who he has tremendous respect for, was the goal he was aiming for.. he surpassed that a while ago.

Shula was a good coach, despite being a douche, but not sure BB wants to pursue that goal..

Then we all assume that BB even cares about those records or passing Shula, he can never coach another game in his life and will always be in the conversation about being the greatest NFL coach of all time..

Here is what matters:
BB 7, Superbowl Rings
Shula 2, Superbowl Rings

I think he passes Shula.

He's on 270 wins right now, at the age of 65. Let's say we win 9 more games this year, that's 279 wins going into the 2018 season.

Let's then assume 14 wins a season (reg + post).

2018 - 293 wins, age 66
2019 - 307 wins, age 67
2020 - 321 wins, age 68
2021 - 335 wins, age 69, passes George Halas (324) early in the season
2022 - 349 wins, age 70, passes Don Shula (347) in the playoffs

The only public comment he's ever made was that "I won't be like Marv Levy and coaching in my 70s, you don't have to worry about that." But he said that in 2009 when he was 57 and the idea of being 70 seemed a long, long way off.

We know that Bill still loves the game of football, that his work ethic hasn't diminished one bit, and that his health is good.

2022 seems a long way away now, but as long as he can still coach the way he wants to coach, at the same high level, then I don't see him walking away.

Rings and Steak houses.

BB and the Pats could tie the record for Most Consecutive Winning Seasons, All-Time in 2020. The Cowboys, under Landry, put up 20 consecutive from 1966-1985. Two more wins this season puts the Pats all alone in 2nd place on that list with 17, breaking a tie with the 1983-1998 Niners.

The Kraft/Belichick/Brady Patriots are at or near the top of most such lists, even though the lists include the entire "since the merger" era that began in 1970. Since the beginning of the Free-Agency/Salary-Cap Era, there's no other franchise even in shouting distance.
