Bill’s first offer…

Another 6 yr deal. Canales got one w/ Panthers.

This trend sure as hell doesn't look promising for Bill getting a HC job next season.

And the last spot is taken. Bill is now officially an unemployed HC for the 2024 season.

This is a huge drop in the average age of coaches. The trend continues towards younger coaches. Doesn't bode well for Bill's 2025 chances. He really needs to look into a network job, as I predicted at the beginning of this process

It's crazy this moved the avg age only by 2 years.

I think there could definitely be a team in 2025, if he even wants to do it. More coaches will get fired as always and Belichick will be reconsidered.

The stink of 2023 still needs time to dissipate and he really needs to consider being more flexible about personnel control.

Not really. I've been tracking this and the avg age barely moved (though trending downward) the last few seasons mainly because every year the younger coaches also aged.

2021: avg. age 51.0 / median 46.5
2022: avg. age 49.6 / median 47.0
2023: avg. age 49.6 / median 47.5
2024: avg. age 47.8 / median 45.0

Age '24 '23 '22 '21
30: 6 / 5 / 4 / 5
40: 14/ 14/ 14/ 13
50: 6 / 5 / 7 / 5
60: 6 / 6 / 5 / 8
70: 0 / 2 / 2 / 1

Commanders considered BB and interviewed him but they chose Quinn.

I really don't think a 73 year old after a year off is getting another head coaching job.

Isn't Russini the reporter that got accussed by WAS former GM's wife of sucking his **** for stories?

Ah I did not think about the extra year for each coach. Males sense but I would have thought they would track it relative to pre hiring cycle and not to last year.

Interesting.

“Three primary reasons were echoed by numerous league sources,” Howe noted of why Belichick didn’t land a job this offseason. “Belichick’s mishandling of the Patriots’ quarterback situation in recent years, his desire to maintain total control of football operations and a growing concern over the coach’s ability to relate to this generation of players.”

Adam Schefter said on air the other day that bb wants just to coach. so who knows?

So this was Bill's first offer.

This is crazy. Vrabel was too big of a human being and it intimidated decision makers. WTF

BB turned down the Falcons job blowing up your narrative of over the hill.

The internet has single-handedly been the best and worst thing for all media, especially sports media.

There are 100 'Belichick reportedly uncomfortable' articles out there now - All of them just say 'reportedly', except for the first article which everyone copied, from NESN.

It's Bert Breer. Mr. Plugged In to Nobody Bert Breer. And this counts as 'reportedly'.
There's probably a report being worked on right now.

The worst part of this phenomenon, in sports and news, is that it has some folks parroting things as gospel that they read or heard. There's also the headline and soundbite issue, where folks will repeat those rather than see the story, which many times is not the same. The latest Brady Sr story is just one example. The headline read Brady Sr Goes To Bat For Belichick but it should have been Brady Sr Takes a Bat to Belichick.

Not sure about a legal battle but @raduray's point was the NEP should have opened up the search- which I agree with.

My point was if there was/wasn't the succession language, Mayo would do whats best for him and interview for HC vacancies thus risking he would go to another team.
The Pats definitely wanted to lock up Mayo. We'll find out if it was the right move.

I don't think the coaching moves matter much if they don't improve their drafting and start taking care of their best players.

This account is so weird. It is a guy pretending to be Patrick Pass of all people.
Pat Pass is the perfect name for a Pats player. The only thing better would be if he was a WR.

I met him about 15 years ago, nice guy btw, but my first thought when I saw him was, people actually get in front of this guy when he's running full speed ahead? Yikes!
