BGC 2021 CB/PTP Thread

I have 5 corners in this draft with first round grades. This draft is really top heavy at corner, some really good ones will go early and then a steep drop off.

surtain of Alabama - he started the year really slow like the rest of the Alabama defense, but ended the year as a true lock down corner. All pro material.

horn of South Carolina - really good in man and also capable in zone. Playmaker with a nose for the ball.

Kendrick of Clemson - he started slow this season, but has become an impressive shut down corner.

Samuel of Florida state - proved he is the real deal with an outstanding season.

Farley of Virginia tech - opted out this season but has outstanding 2019 tape.
I have Surtain, Horn, and Samuel super high as well, but I think this is the best CB class I can remember personally, should be very deep

Wade, Farley, Adebo, Thomas, Kendrick, Jobe, Vincent

Lots of sleepers as well: Chase Lucas, Jean-Charles, and Carter and Gilbert of Duke too

i hope you are correct.

the real question is what defensive back will bb take in the second round?

How do you guys think about surtains performance last night?

Still like Wade a lot, but I see why he has slipped...Not sure he's in my top tier anymore, likely goes Day 2

the combine will tell us if surtain is fast enough and twitchy enough to play corner in the nfl.

he just might end of being much better at free safety in the nfl.

ps: we do need a replacement for d mccourty.
he definitely can tackle well in space and a little bit harder than our current cb's

Watched tape on the corner from northwestern and he is a playmaker.

this is the type of guy that should appeal to bb.

Unfortunately there will be no combine this year. Only pro-days.

Watch BB draft a small, unheralded CB/S in round 2 who was projected for round 5/6 and then is cut 2 years later when he finally gives up because said CB/S had too many injuries to actually play. :p

I feel like i’ve seen this movie almost a half dozen times.... Jordan Richards, duke dawson, Cyrus Jones, joe Juan Williams, the Duggar etc. etc. etc.

Yep, but I still refuse to do ANY research on ANY DBs considered to be day 1-2 candidates (not that Little Billy did either, ^obviously^).

I do want him to draft a CB for the pipeline, but not until our 4th-rounder at the Earliest...Too many other needs on defense (DE, DT, LB) that need addressing first.

amen brother!

the front seven has been ignored too much. That has to be rebuilt, no more garbage defensive backs until day 3 of the draft.

Let's use this thread to talk about CB, PTP and other **** Capt Stone wants to ***** about.

So Farley already opted out. Idk I don't blame these kids. No surprises that NFL is #1 priority so I don't think it hurts them a ton there. Everyone knows what's up there. It's a joke.

I do think *if* the # grows larger more players will just step up and get noticed. College coaches are some of the most insane people on earth. Honestly some of the stories I've heard have me goosebumps. These guys will absolutely be ready. There's no shortage of talent at most of these schools. You're replacing a 5* with another 5*. Besides those **** are almost useless nowadays. There's too much talent, too many guys to really get a handle on that way and like anything else some hype is involved along the way.
Same as NFL. For the most the replacement is just as good or better than " good enough" to get the job done. The drop off is always exaggerated.

This looks like a solid group imo. Shame we won't get a regular season but this looks like a group with top-end talent and some depth. After taking a quick peek it's deeper than I first thought. At least 9+ months out.

How I graded the position ... I hate 2017. I think about it every single day. Mostly just the rush class but that is probably my worst year by #'s if I had to bet. Definitely not happy about some of those grades.

Someone posted on the internet that the patriots had zoom calls with two corners from Oregon.

the pac10 and big 10 teams are so hard to scout since they has so few games this past year.

Yes. We should completely avoid CB or WR in the first 2 rounds, our evaluation system is broken evaluating the CB and WR positions. Go front 7 defense with the top pick.

We definitely need to re-stock the pipeline, even if Gilmore isn't traded...But I agree the 2nd round isn't the time to do it...There should still be some good prospects available during the 4th/early-5th rounds...

If surtain falls to us at 15, he might make a great eventual replacement for D. Mccourty.

I've thought about this for a while too, not a bad pick if so

Curious if Cannon/Chung are cut in the coming days, not sure who else is a potential casualty

Vitale could be. Lacosse should be as well.

I know Edelman is a fan favorite, but he could be as well.

I keep hoping that at some point we move on from Bentley. Not a lot of savings, just piece of mind.
