Patriots Injury News Bentley Out for Season

I don’t know, I think Tavai is right in the same wheelhouse as him when it comes to impact. Obviously the question mark though is how McMillan and others step up. Obviously you want your full deck, but not ready to think this is as bad as losing some of the better players on D or more critical positional circumstances.

We've had a lot of torn pecs and torn biceps last 2 years: Gonzalez, Judon, Marcus Jones, now Bentley. Um--sorry to speculate, but I can't help it... have never seen so many of these injuries all together
Need more pliability

This is sad news. While he does have limits. Here is a guy who knew what to do, knew where to be, and made many plays over the years.

I thought things went south on D for a few series after his departure on Sunday.

Bentley IS one of the key players on D. This on top of the Barmore loss is very damaging.

Hightower and Mayo taking snaps before season end.
Goddamn it you beat me. Hightower probably better TODAY than half the linebackers in the league lol.

But…not really a season where it’s going to make a huge W/L difference for him to go down.

Bigger issue is at almost 30, does he return to form?

Do they call up giles-harris?

On the bright side - he will be like a new signing next year.

This sucks and it's only week 2.

Man, Hightower was a baller.
Talk about clutch.
2 of greatest individual plays in SB history:
1. Possibly the greatest tackle in NFL history when he stopped Beast Mode with one hand on his jersey while he had a separated shoulder on same arm. Lynch had a full head of steam. Hightower doesn't stop him, game over.
Not just the greatest tackle, the greatest defensive play in nfl history. And them Malcolm made the 2nd best SB defensive play right after. But for degree of difficulty,Highs was better.
And of course the strip sack vs. Falcons.
Great, great player. Similar to Rodney in a lot of ways.
After Tippett, High is the 2nd best Patriots LB evah. And that's sayin something.

Bentley is the brains of the defense. Who steps up to keep the defense organized? Jonathan Jones maybe?

Could be worse. Let’s not act like this is losing a Bruschi, Mayo, Hightower, etc.

Obviously it's unfortunate to loose Bentley for the rest of the season. That being said, and forgive me for using a BB term (value), where we can really nail it in FA in 2025 is on Defense. There will be young (not 28 years old in the 1st year of their deals like Judon, but mid 20's) defensive players that could not only add to our defensive talent (which actually is a need, especially younger players, and even more especially on the DL where they are aging). And use the draft to get our LT and Center (and a solid RB wouldn't hurt to backup/groom behind Rhamondre). If we can add a young #1 (or at least better than what we currently have) WR in FA, with the hope that Douglas gets better, as does Polk, then we can give Maye the OL and other tools that he needs to thrive, combined with an even more talented and younger Defense. As I've always said, this is essentially Year 1 of a 3 to 4 Year rebuild (if all the pieces fall into place). Even so, Bentley being out will see what we have, if anything, to step up and maybe produce in his place, or reinforce where we need to improve our Defensive talent if it doesn't happen.

I'm back on team tank. That week 1 win might come back to bite us.

Stop it, there's no reason for that. This team will be in play for a high pick regardless.
