Seems they weren't getting a trade offer that was worth not having a huge piece of their D even if just for one year. They consider themselves Superbowl contenders so they probably preferred to keep him over even a good pick so it probably would have taken something rediculous and they probably only tried so they could use it in further negotiations with the agent.So instead of a 2nd or 3rd round pick, they pay him a massive raise and still lose him to free agency next year for nothing. Granted they’ll potentially get a comp pick, but…
