Bench Newton!

I think Bill and Josh have not shown to be great purveyors of offensive talent. Meyers and Harris rose up the charts through luck and fortitude and despite mcD and bills evals.

So I think we as fans need a showcase of stidham in full Gametime. I am convinced brady, gronk , Edelman, white and Amendola were the offense. Bill does not seem to have a major input on offense and its completely McD and what he has shown this season implies he is clueless both in terms of talent evaluation and game plan . It took both brady and belichick to tango.

I just feel Bill the GM and mcD the offensive guru are letting down Bill the defensive genius. Bill is the ATG coach, but his stubbornness could potentially lead to his slide as well.
The thing is Meyers and Harris got minimal chances and proved themselves and earned more time until they effectively became starters. Stidham has not proved himself to be an upgrade over Cam Newton. We are all just wondering if there’s something in him that nobody has seen yet. It’s not like he’s shining and Bill’s just going with Newton. I mean Cam threw better deep balls last game than Stidham did in all his career attempts. Plus the run game.

I agree they aren’t good at finding offensive talent. But they are good at evaluating overall. Bill let Brady rise to second string in a year and then when he had evidence kept him in the QB role, Bill let Harris and Meyers develop and get chances to prove themselves. Edelman stuck around for awhile until he finally rose to the level of starter. Bill is better post draft evaluator than draft evaluator.

As far as McDaniel’s, he’s not working with a lot. It’s hard to judge someone who showed success in the past when we know he is handicapped now.

Baring injury or a four-INT game, Cam’s playing.

He’s a black QB in 2020. BLM and all that.

Cam being benched by a white boy with no resume would send the wrong message and cause big problems with the other players. And the league. Belichick made his bed.

Sometimes it’s more than just a business. Cam is here to stay.

At least this season.
It could also be that Stidham just isn’t that good and Cam’s running is a huge asset.

The players know who is the better player because they are on the field with the qb’s every single day.

the fact that none of them are barking for stidham and all of them are solid newton fans tells me that stidham is doing nothing in practice to impress them.

but lets be honest, you don't expect any player in NE to question openly BB, do you?
they would be out the same second, I mean, Cam seems to be a nice guy, excelent team player, maybe even a leader off the field, so why would they put a knife in his back in an interview or something and ask for Stidham?
thats not the culture NE is having in the locker room

I think nobody of them would play bad or intentionally drop balls, leave the pass rusher untouched to Stidham if he would be playing, they play to win no matter who is the QB out there, and BB is the guy who is putting the players on the field, not the players themselves, furthermore Stidham got also a lot of praise by coaches and teammates, its not like nobody said anything good about what they have seen of Stidham in the practices this and last year...

I think Meyers is the best case to see that not always the best option is out there playing, sometimes also BB and McShitty try to force things that are not there, like Harry and ****ed up Sanu over Meyers or Cam over any QB out there in the world...ok maybe Hoyer is as bad as Cam but just with less running ability

Yeah, it's common for NFL players to make it known to the press and the public that they would like a quarterback change.

People keep using Harris and Meyers as an example yet people ignore that they got limited opportunities that they made the most of an earned playing time. Stidham got limited opportunities and didn’t. If he got the results those guys did then there would be an overwhelming call to start him.

Also let’s be real, Meyers looked like another pre season hero who didn’t show up for the real thing last year. It wasn’t without merit that he didn’t come out the gate as a starter. Harris was drafted last year on a team that had Michel, Burkhead and White. Yeah it took him awhile to get a more prominent role. This isn’t new. Blount had to prove himself before he got the nod over Ridley.

Stidham had multiple opportunities to come in and look competent. Jimmy G looked good in the Chiefs game that Brady got massacred in. He looked good when he played Arizona and SF. Stidham has not shown any of that.

It’s literally just hoping. He could have made himself standout if he wanted to justify a role

Yeah I believe Harris is showing qualities of a star to be. Let’s also not forget he was replacing a guy who helped us a lot winning our latest Super Bowl. It’s not like it was a no brainer to bench Michel.

I’m not as optimistic about Meyers but either way he has also made the most of his opportunity.

There is NO comparison with these and Bill preferring to keep Cam Newton as starter and keeping a QB who went from #1 to #3 in camp and who’s most known for his pick 6’s than anything else - on the bench.

None at all. Nada. Zip.

Yeah, it has to be because he's black ... not because of his leadership, intangibles, the way the team/leaders have taken to him, his running ability, his play early in the season. All of that is irrelevant - the only reason he's still playing is because he's black.

Belichick, the coach whose only focus is on what's best for the football team, is not rocking the boat because he's worried about the external perception of racism coming from schmucks like you on message-boards. Yeah, totally, based on everything we know about Belichick, that definitely makes sense. Lol.

Congrats on revealing your racism.

Exactly. It’s worth noting they both were both working to unseat our two most recent top draft picks

Like I said it took Jimmy G one relief appearance to look to me like like he belonged in the NFL and was gonna be a good one.

I haven’t seen any such promise from Stidham in any of his relief appearances. Every single one of Stid’s relief appearances has been from complete crap to forgettable. Jimmy looked so much better than Stid in every aspect of the game, and it wasn’t a surprise that he was really good in his short stint as our starting QB.
Stidhams game vs the chargers was basically Jimmy’s game vs kc. So no you are wrong on this too.
You are anointing Jimmy on 1 drive and he hasn’t even turned out to be what you thought he would, he is barely hanging on to a starting job while missing almost half the games.

It could also be that Stidham just isn’t that good and Cam’s running is a huge asset.
But his running really hasn’t been an asset.

I think Bill looks at it like this. He knows the Patriots aren't making the playoffs. He may know that Stidham is or is not the future qb of this team. What he is doing is protecting the narrative that New England is a place you can resurrect your career. He's allowing Cam to try and attain his bonus money. If he shuts that door then that may send out negative signals to other would be free agents.

That narrative only works if you are winning, no free agent will chose New England if they are not a competitor, unless we out pay them. You can see those players joining the Chiefs or the Bucs left and right for a reason.

Will we be able to resign our own? I don’t say it will happen but I wouldn’t be shocked if Andrews and White sign in Tampa.

No it wasn’t really. Jimmy was 6/7 and a 140 passer rating in that Chiefs game and looked awesome. Ball out quick, decisive and didn’t fold at pressure.
Stid threw 3 passes against the chargers. Yippee.

Stid only wishes he could have half the career that Jimmy has had to date.

Each had 1 td drive. That’s it. Oh and Stidhams QB rating was 149.3 since you seem to think that’s important.

On 3 passes. Lol

On 3 passes. Lol
You said he never had a game where he looked as good as Jimmy did vs kc. Not true. You cited a qb rating on 7 passes. Are you now setting the bar that you can dismiss all career potential on 27 garbage time passes, make a complete career assessment on 7 and 3 are meaningless?

Yes, Jimmy vs KC looked much better than Stid did in any game he's been in both this and last year, including the Chargers game. If that's what you're asking. Jimmy looked like an NFL QB. Stid hasn't to date.
