Belichick on WEEI right now

Just listened to it. Very funny quip by Fred Smerlis and corresponding response by BB.

BB was talking about how when the refs announce a call, he can't ever hear them. He hears the crowd noise, but doesn't hear what we hear at home.

Smerlis suggested that he should steal the refs signals, and Bellichick said "their facing the wrong way Fred". It was very funny.

Re: bellichick on weei right now

One of the trully embrassing things about last year was Ed Hochuli, the BEST ref in the NFL, did 0 playoff games. Good job NFL

Perhaps he resists the league's strategic "guidance"
as to who it would be good to have win.

LOL! That is truly a great quip by BB.

More amazing is that Smerlis suggested that in light of the existing sitution. Goes to show that BB does have a great relationship with a select few (and that too in the media! gasp!!) who can joke about this in public.

The Brady interview on D&C is worth listening to also. He said something like they aren't going to go around talking after a big win like other classless players would. I took that as Merriman and The Self Proclaimed Classiest Player in the Leegue.

He worked the first round.

There is a rumor floating around that he asked that if he was in line for the super bowl that he be deferred for a year, because he really wants to call the game in his home town this year. Who knows if true. There are rules on a ref's ability to call games in the championship games or super bowl two years in a row.

If he ends up calling the game in Arizona this year, you'll have your answer why he wasn't in the later rounds last year.
