Belichick: Kelly's Firing "Really Disappointing" (Mike Reiss Article)

It could possibly be some rare insight as to what Belichick *really* thinks about certain opposing players. Belichick hasn't said anything like that since the Pittsburgh CB in 2007 whose name is slipping from me....

Yea I think thats the angle Bill is taking here. McCoy and Jackson aren't exactly known as great locker room guys. Not sure about Maclin but he was never shy about talking to the press about the problems in Philly.

If McDaniels gets a HC job somewhere this offseason, I wouldn't be surprised to see Chip end up here.

I doubt it. Belichick has been steadfast in keeping his offensive and defensive systems in place throughout his tenure and Kelly will want to run his offense wherever he goes. I hope he doesn't end up here because I don't want anything to do with his system and want Belichick to continue with the same offense Brady had been running throughout his career.

Been reading articles about Howie Roseman. Sounds like a combination of incompetent, power hungry, egotistical, and petty. Pretty bad when over a half dozen different people cite his guy as not a good guy
Howie Roseman is a scumbag. From Louis Riddick, to Joe Banner, to Andy, to now Chip, he has a long trail of guys who grow to detest him. The fact Lurie would go and give him back the de facto GM role is astounding. Eagles will be a mess as long as he's in charge.

Roseman will work at 345 Park Ave in a couple of years...

I would. Chip will be a HC somewhere (pro or college) next year. Plus I don't think BB would pass over Daboll twice.
I think BB admires Chip's inventiveness and willingness to think outside of the box. I think he admired his drive to build his team HIS way. I think he understood what Chip was trying to do with all the off season moves he made. Some didn't workout, but only Murray turned out to be a mistake, but that was more on the player than the coach.

BTW- There wasn't anyone who thought it was a mistake when they signed him, Just another 20-20 hindsight hatchet job by the media. I also think BB knows how unfairly Chip was treated by a media who loves to tear down what they don't understand. There are always a lot of Borges types in every city. Guys who hate it when "their" guys get moved and don't forget who did it.,

However all that being said, I DON'T think we'll ever see Chip Kelly on staff here in NE as an OC. He runs a vastly different offense than anything the Pats do. It would really be a bad fit. It's one thing to admire and respect a fellow coach. It's another have one on your staff who doesn't fit your philosophy. You only have to look at the short term stays of Dean Peas, and Dom Capers to see the folly in that. Both are excellent coaches, but just not for here.

Yep I'd also add that BB had a tremendous amount of respect for Chip b/c he worked his way up through the ranks as a football guy and not some bean-counting, fantasy football playing, Machiavellian wonk like Roseman.

At this point I'd add Maxwell to the list. Hes a disaster at CB.

We won't see Chip here but I think with BB's influence he'd be fine here as an OC. He likes slot receivers. He likes two TE sets and throwing to them. He likes the passing back. He just needs an accurate, smart Qb to run it all.

Quick point...Pees was here for a number of years. Capers was here for just a year

The story is that they traded him to CLE as he didn't fit into the Chip Kelly offense.

It is unknown if Chip or that strat-o-matic office wonk Roseman put the motion behind the trade.

Kelly had the final say on the 53 just like Andy Reid.

My impression of the Eagles is that they usually draft very good. Its often you see guys they drafted playing on other teams like Dion Lewis, Andy Studebaker, Brandon Gibson, Brandon Boykin, King Dunlap.

Chip did not have final say in 2013 or 2014. Rosemon did.

La Caforna is reporting that Eagles 'brass' and Ryan Grigson are still tight from his days there, implying he could go back there if he's canned by the Colts.

A Roseman-Grigson leadership would easily ensure that Eastern PA and South Jersey will sink into the Atlantic within the next three years.

The sooner the better.

New beachfront property!

You just told me that Lewis didn't fit Kellys system.

Why would Kelly waste the roster spot if the guy didn't fit? Sounds to me that Kelly gave the order to trade.

Hold on. I said...

Interpret that as I do not trust that to be the narrative. For all we know Kelly liked him but was overruled.

Nonetheless, it is fact that Kelly did not have personnel control until 2015. That is per Lurie.

Kelly lied?

*Kelly has final say on the 53-man roster. This was always a subject of speculation during Andy Reid’s 13-year tenure, largely because the Eagles were vague about their process for selecting and evaluating personnel. Kelly couldn’t have been more direct when asked if he had final say.

“Yeah,” Kelly said.

He added that he and general manager Howie Roseman are “on the same page. There hasn’t been a decision that’s been made personnel-wise since I’ve been here that I’ve felt one way and he’s felt the other way.

Happy New Year!

Ok check this out. Kelly's words..

He controlled the 53 before Lurie gave him complete control over the 90 man roster in 2015.

Chip Kelly says he's not Eagles' GM

At it relates to Lewis, it seems that he did not have final say on the trade to CLE as he was not on the 53.

Happy New Year to you Robert

Rob, if Kelly had control of the 53 then that implies that Kelly got rid of Lewis or he had Howie Roseman seek a trade. Either Lewis was going to make the team or not.

Not sure I totally agree with BB here. Jackson, Shady and Maclin are having fine seasons.

McCoy is making like $11 mill a year, he needs to be having more than just a fine season to justify his absurd contract. From that perspective, along with his attitude, were good reasons to move on from him to build your program.

Can you imagine BB having a RB on the roster getting that much money?
