Of course the hack would bring up 2010. Yet 2010 is the perfect example of when the flag shouldn't be thrown. It is borderline at best if McCourty held Garcon. The only point where I see a hold is after Sanders had already touched the ball. Which then it wasn't a hold. The ball was clearly uncatchable to Garcon, on his own was 5-6 yards away from where Sanders initially touches the ball.

Forget uncatchable. Garcon wasn't really touched until the ball was picked. It was a feeble attempt by Florio to prove how high and mighty he believes himself to be.

I got to be honest I dont really see the value in showing this? Obviously BB found value in it and I would love to know what the message he was sending is. Seems to me like he could make ha point about not leaving it to the refs without showing a game with the exact same circumstance with oppisite results. Without knowing exactly what he said to the team when showing this it is hard to understand why.

I would guess his motivation was along the lines of what you said. It can go either way so don't take the chance of letting a game come down to that. Take advantage of all your opportunities throughout a game and avoid a game being influenced by a penalty call (or non-call).

I'll go a step further and say that at no point in that play was anything that could be argued as pass interference committed. The only non-trivial contact that happened came after the interception. McCourty didn't impede Garcon in any way.

I too was curious about the message in seeing this play from 2009 and I don't for one second think it was to show the team how they got robbed (as that ambulance chaser Florio suggests).
An interesting thing of note is the Lions (beneficiary of the call) went on to lose every remaining game from this season. Could it be that BB's message was that in the whole grand scheme of things, this play really didn't have any impact on their season since they tanked the rest of the way.
I think that the ultimate purpose was to put the play and the game in perspective. They haven't even reached Thanksgiving and we have heard numerous times from the Pats, the season starts after this.

i need to stop going to that hack's web site. of course 2010 is different because no flag thrown at all, unlike 2009 and monday night

Make the effort to stop visiting that site. It's definitely worth it. I stopped going there in May when he declared that the release of Kyle Love constituted a human rights violation.

Sure, you may not get some stories the instant they break, but it's not like other sites don't pick them up a few minutes later. For me, that didn't make much of a difference and, as an added benefit, I don't have to read a site that puts a negative spin on every story they do about the Patriots.
