Belichick APPRECIATION

Hmmm...I think BB is one of the few Pats who ISN'T regularly bashed on this board.

Anyway, I will express my unwaivering support for BB. Does he make mistakes sometimes? Sure, who doesn't in a high powered, high profile job like his. All you have to do, though, is look across the field most games to realize how lucky we are. Take yesterday, for instance.

At the end of the first half, when the Vikes inexplicably go for a TD on 4th & goal when they could have had a chip-shot figgie (and points had been hard to come by for both teams), AND they were getting the ball in the 2nd half? I couldn't believe how dumb that was. When they missed it, and gave the Pats a big momentum swing, I said to my husband, "That was STUPID. We are winning this game." I betcha anything BB was in the lockerroom saying something very similar to his team. And what was Chilly saying to his team? And who runs that team anyway, Chilly or Lord Favre?

The best thing about him is probably his ability to change things up when whatever he's doing isn't working. This offseason he got rid of a lot of veterans (probably hard for him to do as he relies on them with his complex schemes) and went with a bunch of rookies and young players on D. He has to do a lot of coaching himself, because of all the youngsters, and because his good assistants get picked off year after year by other teams trying to copy him. Then, 1/4 into the season, he decides the O needs an overhaul too, and in true BB form, makes a shocking trade of his Hall-of-Fame receiver, and goes and gets back a guy NOBODY ever expected would be back on this team (because of the way he left the first time). AND IT WORKS. Not because Branch is tearing it up out there, but because the players believe in him and because he makes it work for them.

The guy is awesome. I, for one, will shed a few tears the day he retires from the Pats.

I agree completely that 99.9% of the fan base do not appreciate BB. Reading this board I would say it is much closer to 50% than 99.9%. However, I disagree with the use of the word "terd". Some of them are Chicken Littles. While it sounds disrespectful the term is in common usage to describe someone, at the first sign of turmoil, who is quick to turn and say "we suck" (maybe a general Boston attitude nurtured from decades of Red Sox watching?). Some of them, likely, dislike BB because he makes decisions based on unemotional cold hard football facts (at least facts based on how BB sees it) For instance they begrudge him for not keeping or choosing the player they like. Some are spoiled due to the Patriots success (a somewhat understandable mindset considering what the Patriots have done over the last 9 years). And some of them just often disgaree with what BB does.
I love BB. I feel like he and Brady are part of my family for the joy they have given me. I'd sacrifice 40 virgins to Mayan Gods if it that's what it took to show my appreciation for him.

I have never stopped appreciating Belichick. I was called a homer this offseason for saying that until he proves us otherwise, I am a firm believer that "In Bill We Trust" is alive and well in New England. When it comes to the New England Patriots, the guy knows more than all of us combined and we shouldn't really question his master plan. You can question individual moves, but the guy knows what he is doing and knows how to keep this team a Super Bowl contender for a decade running.

This team is a Super Bowl contender now and only getting better. Next year, this team will even get better with two picks in each of the first three rounds. I excited about the present and future for this team and we have Belichick to thank for that.

No backhanded shots at the posters here. :biggrin2:

This is definitely one of his best seasons, probably the best since 2001. The defense has 1 starter who has started more than 2 seasons here.

Continues to prove he is still the best in the game. 2 more rings for him and Brady will seal their legacies as the best ever at their positions IMO.

Not even close to true. Our fan base is overflowing with turds who constantly criticize and second guess belichick. Just look at last weeks game (or the one before) when the crowd boo'd the Pats because they were down i the first half. Spoiled and ungrateful..

Ain't that the truth. Never mind the game threads, which are almost becoming unbearable due to the Chicken Littles like lithium-boy (Phoenix111) who live or die on every play. Honestly, I'd rather watch football with my grandmother, at least she'd figure out after a few games that if you're down by a touchdown or have a 3 and out that the game isn't over and the world isn't going to end. And she's dead!

i agree with the BB support, but also agree that most ppl dont really bash BB, if they do, no need to pay attention, and bash and disagree ARE two different things

but the above is incorrect...we have wilfork, meriweather, this is mayo's (and guyton's) 3rd season (if that counts)

those are 4 off the top of my head

BB is the complete package. Whether it is his coaching skills, his draft picking skills, his trade negotiation skills, his press handling skills, his in-game calls, or anything else ... he just does it all well.

:rocker:

Edit:
Forgot to mention fashion skills. Hoodie fashion, defined by BB.

Can you + your offerings please stop at NYC before you head to the Mayan Gods?

In BB I trust.

Always prepared to demonstrate my appreciation for BB but seems ridiculous to allege that many fans bash BB.

I am sure a minority don't want him coaching the Pats but don't think that that # is more than 10% (and that's generously including the souls like Borges and his pals).

Belichick is the man. There are a lot of miserable pollutants on this board who like to complain about having the greatest coach in the NFL coaching this team.

Belichick is one special coach! I simply love the man...

I was listening to ESPN early this morning - a repeat of the post game show with Boomer and Tom Jackson. I heard this from Tom Jackson regarding the Patriots (paraphrasing) "they don't overwhelm you, but they will win. That's all because of Belichicks coaching." The look on Jackson's face as he uttered those words was priceless.....like he just ate a rotten egg and sucked on a lemon afterwards.
