I just watched the video. Bedard also mentions Mapu blowing coverages all over the place. It's about time someone notices it! I know some people want this guy to be good, but as @captain stone would say....McPoo sucks!

The dude is Chris Carter.

Mayo is also going the Matt Patricia route in Detroit blaming players when they as HC's haven't proven anything - more so with Mayo.

Does it make you wonder what players in that draft Bill passed over because he wanted Mapu instead?

I think it should be viewed more like - Wolf had to try to finagle things because Mayo had zero pull in the league. And how much pull do you think Wolf himself actually had when he wasn’t named EVP of personnel until months later?

The GM’s job should be to land on the HC himself and then have the HC build his staff. It’s kind of clownish to hire the HC first, then ask the GM-in-waiting who doesn’t actually have the title yet to go find a staff for that HC because he can’t build one himself. Good luck finding anyone who actually wants to come. It’s no surprise they ended up with the staff they have. Kind of a shock that Springer has actually been pretty good, and there are a couple other minor bright spots.

Why does Springer get a pass? We just gave up 96 yard punt return for a TD. Our kick return game is non-existent to the point teams are starting to exploit the new rules.

Marcus Jones has been ok as a punt returner but no where near as good as his rookie year.

Barringer is really good but he was really good last year too.

Slye is definitely better than Ryland so Springer deserves some credit. And we've needed 2 long snappers and so far so good so another kudos for that.

I would say Springer as been ok certainly not the dumpster fire we are seeing everywhere else. I guess I answered my own question lol.

If Mayo fails and is fired, then it cements the fact that Belicheck failed to ever produce a successful NFL HC from his coaching tree. In other words, Bill's coaching style is flawed and fails to be successful unless you have the GOAT at QB or GOAT at LB.

What exactly does Mayo do? He calls himself a "CEO coach" & from what I can tell he runs around the building trying to make himself look busy, pointing fingers & making excuses for himself. He doesn't contribute anything from an X's & O's standpoint. He's not all involved with the defensive game plan. He doesn't do any actual coaching. And now he's lost the locker room.

Mayo brings zero value & there's absolutely no reason for the Krafts to bring him back.

Yeah I am guessing Wolf wanted to sit Maye longer, and so did AVP, but Mayo pushed to play him sooner to try to win games and save his own butt. I think Wolf probably was expecting Mayo to be able to grind out a few sporadic wins with Brissett plus a solid defense, while maintaining a good culture that let young players blossom at their own pace. Instead, the culture has turned to **** and Mayo wanted to get Maye out there to help his job security and get the players off his back.

I want to dive deeper on my comment. Kraft didn't want Mayo to leave, so they gave him the guarantee in his contract. That made Bill a lame duck, dead man walking. We heard reports and scuttlebutt last year about the undermining of Bill. They had a plan for moving on from Bill before Bill was done, signing his replacement right under his nose. Then for the last year or so, Kraft has rolled out the I Hate Bill TV miniseries and done nothing but try to make the guy look bad, only because he played the odds on a 40 year old QB, albeit the greatest one to ever lace 'em up. The greatest coach ever has been **** on by the owner, when he should be kissing Bill's rings and telling anyone who would listen that Bill was indeed the greatest coach since Lombardi. So now, yeah, Kraft has a big ol' helping of karma, with a overmatched coach and and undermanned roster.

Better be careful, Bobby, there's already one **** owner in this town in John Henry. Maybe you could just STFU and collect your check. Sit in your box and let the TV people fawn over you. Wouldn't it raise a red flag to not hire a BB disciple when the rest of them have all failed badly except for Bill O'Brien who had moderate success for a few years in Houston before imploding?

I don't like seeing guys cut in front of the line for promotions without merit. Mayo is that guy and it's not shocking he's been a disaster. He wasn't even a good LB's coach. That's like hiring Troy Brown for HC when the WR's have been a problem since 2018.

I think given the opportunity Bill pushes the odds one more year and would have used the Franchise tag. Kraft took that option away too.

He's playing exactly like his college tape - he's a very slow reactor which isn't going to cut it in the NFL. I don't see him doing a 180.

I don't think it needs to be a huge turnaround. We aren't fixing 1-6 at this point. But if it turns into 1-16 anything is on the table.

Here's where I think a small turnaround can help. Maye is 0-2 if we can get Maye a few wins and if he continues to look good then I think everyone comes back. Maye gets at least 3 wins the rest of the way and we at least would end the year with the same record as last year. 4 or 5 would not only save everyone but completely change the narrative. Less than 3 and I think anything could be in the table but I still think they'd be hesitant to give up on everyone so quickly.
