who sees any charm? The guy stands on the sideline with a blank look on his face. He throws his players and coaches under the bus. his press conferences are trite and then he walks back the stupid things he says the next day. I see no charisma....

Kraft sees charm.

This was written right before the game. While I agree with Bedard, the key is how does he feel now? The media has walking back their opinions all year long.

The turning point was when BB wanted to trade TB to SF and stay with Jimmy G. RK had two options then. Agree to the trade or fire BB and keep TB. He tried the band aid approach. That was the beginning of the end.
That was Wickersham's version of what happened. But the timeline provided by Lynch directly contradicts this. Lynch said he called asking to trade for Brady the prior year, and Belichick laughed at him. A year later, he called again and Belichick called him back, that's when Garoppolo was traded. One would think that a GM who "wanted" something to happen wpuldn't laugh in the facer of his trading partner, unless he was using it for leverage. But... then nothing happened for many months after that. So I fail to see how BB "wanted" to trade Brady.

I mean, I know everyone thought that because this is what Wickersham reported, but then Lynch gave an entirely different story and different timeline for what happened. And even Wickersham had to go back and rewrite the saga.

Especially in the optum spa of life.
Optum is essentially an analytics consultant company that advises United Healthcare on which claims to deny. Especially when it comes to Mental Health. Don't know why people are so impressed by this item on Mayo's resume.

Jimmy G was never going to be the Pats QB after the stunt he pulled in 2016 tapping out right before the Bills game. Edelman had the same Agent and said he advised Jimmy to stay out to keep his trade value up.

Edelman and Bennett said there were a lot pissed off players in the locker room with what he did. Meanwhile, Brissett played with an injured hand.

He lost the locker room and the trade was inevitable. Tom was never going anywhere.

What a bunch of garbage. Really just a word soup trying to suck up to the talk show callers and message board/social media commentary.

First his rehash was wildly inaccurate and a pile crap.

Second I don't think he has a pulse on the fan base as a whole I think it's more a pulse on the whiniest loudest ones of the group. It's a pulse on the people who call in to talk radio and post on message boards and comment on his articles.

Lastly he doesn't even say fire Mayo so really all he is doing is crying about Krafts process and imploring him not to get it wrong going forward but he says even if that means keeping the current group.
I mean look at our poll here on our board. The vast majority say to fire Mayo (86.1% when removing RLKAG option). I don't think "only the whiniest" want that.

You're right that he's not saying explicitly to fire Mayo - he is criticizing the processes that have gone on so far and warning against continuing to take half-measures. I agree. Keeping Mayo while scape-goating AVP will only hurt Maye's development, as inevitably it won't really solve anything and in the event that you end up firing Mayo next year, you'll be on OC number 3 in 3 years for Maye. And you'll have a pretty difficult time finding anyone who is actually better than AVP to come work under Mayo anyway. Not good. So it's either A) keep the staff as it is, or B) blow it all up. Really not any room for in between.

There is no justification for not having an open interview process for head coach and for Wolf’s job or for annointing a new head coach with minimal experience who has to learn his job while on the job.

I concur, he just stands there seemingly detached from whats going on. If they were winning it would be one thing, but they're terrible. Jim Caldwell actually looked worse, he looked like a cardboard cut out while coaching the colts, but he won. Mayo just looks lost.

You're correct I think he got the fire Mayo opinion right. I mean I'm a defender of the Patriot wall and generally very optimistic and even I've pretty much reached that conclusion.

I don't think he was right about his feelings on Kraft, or on the publics faith in the organization, and I really don't think there is any risk of a red Sox like slide into irrelevancy (that's more about the sports than the teams and a whole different conversation).

I hear you. Hard to say. I think casual fans will take longer to check out, but there's definitely a lot of frustration with more dedicated fans. It's hard to get invested in a team that seems to just not care about success and willfully ignores its own ineptitude and failures.

I wouldn't say there was no justification but those that were justified for it had already left and then Kraft just picked the guy that was left (A guy who managed to gain Krafts trust off the Field rather than in the film rooms) instead of holding that open process.

I hate to say it but I think the biggest issue on this team is they are devoid of talented players.

How many times did we touch Cook at or behind the line only to watch him burst thru?
The biggest issue on this team is the front 7 on defense.

Dugger and Mapu played their best games of the season.
As did Jonathan Jones.
No guarantee Barmore comes back strong or at all.

On the offense it’s glaringly obvious, wide receiver, and O line.

These aren’t easy holes to fill at all.

It’s tough to rate the coaches based on these glaring weaknesses.

My boy Wolf maybe the most at fault here.

Bedard is just another "nattering nabob of negativity" who makes $$$ off of bashing the Patriots..
For some reason that is well liked among many fans today..

That's because the Patriots ****ING SUCK now, m'kay Spiro…?

They have always loved negativity, that’s why Boston sports radio and media thrive. Belichick got hammered on in this forum even when they were going to the Super Bowl every other year. If a Boston sports team doesn’t win the championship THEY SUCK!

If you are a negative fan then by all means hate me and this post. If not then it isn’t directed at you anyways.

I know. There is differences in what the umbrella of Healthcare is....consultants (Optum), insurance companies (United Healthcare) and actual healthcare (Northwell).

I don't know how important that really is though. I think as long as you're keeping the scheme itself the same (West Coast) then they can change the OC without a big impact. I do question how much of Maye's development is about AVP versus Maye himself just being extremely smart and a fast learner. Certainly AVP had some impact but a lot of the bedrock foundation is set, and there are probably only diminishing returns by keeping him.
I think continuity is important especially with rookie QB’s. I have my doubts about AVP’s effectiveness during game day but I do think he was very instrumental with Maye’s mechanics and helping him adjust to NFL defenses.

I understand some coaches are saying Maye is very smart but we also get “Mayo is a good HC”…”I love playing for him”….what else are they going to say? He sucks?
