"He's the guy we want to have the ball in critical situations," said Belichick, "and I can't think of a greater compliment than that."
i have heard BB talk about anyone like this other than brady. Shows how much moss has earned BB's respect as a smart and capable player.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

Bye week is when we ought to
get him extended.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

Yea, that was a crazy thing to hear. Not because it isn't true, but because Belichick never speaks so highly of anyone on this team. I think this is a good sign with regards to Moss staying here after this season.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

When I heard that last night, I literally shot up. I mean, here was BB talking about the Colts as a 'good football team' and never went anymore than that (not nitpicking but showing that he never gets overboard even though the Colts played fantastic). And then to hear him say that about Moss, it was a bit shocking especially when we promote the team concept so much.

Mr. Moss - here's hoping that you never wither irrespective of the seasons or the hits!! Congratulations on a fantastic game!

I'm sure there are lots of drug addiction treatment facilities in NYC.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

You don't think Cassel could toss up those airballs for Moss like Tom does?

With less success, sure. TB buys extra time in the pocket to allow Moss to get to his spot downfield.

Unless they can do it without having to alter his cap value in any way, it is not possible to do it until the end of the season.

Yeah ... i forgot that.

Maybe an "agreement in principle" then?

Did you miss where he said something like, "We have lots of other guys you could say that about too." He was addressing Moss' play because the question was about Moss.

Belichick on Moss...

In his P.C. today (Monday), Belichick was asked about Moss's one-handed grab in traffic, in the middle of the field (as opposed to a sideline play or in the EZ, where attempting catches like that seems more common and "safe"). He just shook his head and said something to the effect of, "We see that all the time - in games, in PRACTICE - that's not the first time we've seen him do that. It's not the tenth time."

Gotta love 81.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

The bigger compliment from Bellichick was when he called Moss "the smartest WR I've coached"...that surprised me, cause he's not big on comparisons..let alone words like best, or best ever.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

The fact that Moss is considered by both Brady and Belichick to be a smarter receiver than even Troy Brown says a LOT.

Untrue.

In the last installment of “Ask PFW” a reader asked when the Pats and Randy Moss’ agent would start negotiating a contract. As I understand it, a player cannot negotiate a contract more than once in a calendar year. If that’s the case, won’t the Pats have to wait until after the season to get something done with Moss since he restructured at the point they traded for his rights?
Grant Bronk

The 12-month renegotiation rule is probably the most misunderstood rule in the NFL. The rule is not that you cannot renegotiate the contract twice in the same year. The rule is that the second renegotiation in a 12-month period simply cannot increase the cap charge in the overlapping years. So, the Patriots could renegotiate Moss’ deal today, as long as the new deal doesn’t have a 2008 cap charge greater than his current $3 million cap charge.
For example, if the Patriots minimize Moss’ salary for the rest of the year, moving it from $2.5 million to his minimum of $720,000, that would leave plenty of room to fit a new signing bonus in as part of an extension.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

IMHO, Moss is this teams MVP.

Re: BB's Compliment to moss

Yeah, the "airballs" on the slants and sideline routes are embarrassing!

I'm talking about the Moss TD and the 55 yard airball completion.

Those plays were ALL Moss' doing and without them we lose this game.

Hmmm....you caught me cheating... I was busy posting here on this site last evening and wasn't listening carefully to the context under which BB said that. But I did shoot up when I heard that phrase!!

Thanks for the correction.
