A three-day NFL Draft could mean more trades for Cleveland Browns, other teams: NFL Insider | cleveland.com

New England coach Bill Belichick sees a different approach to the second round.

"I kind of think the second round will now be like the first round," Belichick said. "Take those [top] 32 players out of there, whoever they are, now you're starting all over again for that second round. And I can see it being approached more as that first round.

"In the past, you kind of rolled into that round. Now, to actually stop and have the whole night to sit there and think about it and talk to other teams and develop a new strategy. Everybody does that on the second day; now we have three days. It's a different dynamic."

I think it was patchick (sorry to the person that said it if it was someone else) that said the Rams at #33 might have the most valuble pick of the draft.

Clearly there will still be tons of talent left on the board and teams will have a day to decide if and how to move up to get the guy they love. The Rams might have a bidding war and get an excellent return for trading out of that spot.

I agree that 33, 34, 35, and 36 and 37 will greatly increase in value as more teams get to spend the time to do the scenario analysis that Belichick has already completed.

I think that what BB was trying to say was not that the second round would the same as the first talent-wise but rather that their would be a whole night to think about the second round and plot/scheme for it.

But unfortunately everyone is going to want to trade down into the second.

Especially if a top 25 prospect is available at the start of day 2. The rams will have a toughchoice to have a bidding war or take the player themselves.

If a top 25 prospect is passed on by 8 teams at 25 and below, perhaps he isn't really a top 25 prospect.

That being said, overnight will give teams plenty of time to re-assess their views of the players who were projected by mocks they respect to be first rounders. There may be spectacular drops for a player like Bryant, but he is a huge exception.

Curiously, I could see the patriots being a team that wants to move up into the low thirties. However, the cost of 33 or 34 is likely to be too high.

Top 25 prospect or not is really irrelevant, what you want is a player that will fit your scheme and make plays on your team. Everybody wants to rate players and you look at all the analysis leading up to every draft and then see the players play and develop down the road and it's totally different. I've said it before, you go through the history of the draft, and you see all the mistakes made in evaluating. So much goes into it, I know. Not one of us or the NFL scouts, GM's, coaches, etc. can see what's on the inside of a player, they can't see how hard a player is going to work, how important football is to him and how important it is to be a great player and teammate.

That's why it was fascinating to see all the info come out about the Pats draft board. The draft is all about drafting to help your team, not collecting "highly rated" players.

I think this is an indication BB might trade UP into the late 1st from the 2nd.

He's acknowledging every one is going to have more time to plan for the second round, meaning you damn well better get the player you want before the 1st round is over.

I, for one, wouldn't be upset if BB traded #47 and #53 to GB for #23, taking Mathews and Hughes at 22-23. (then maybe even trade down from 44)

Seems like every time BB bleeds Green Bay, they they an exceptional player. Would Greg Jennings be perfect as the X receiver opposite Moss? With a healthy Welker in the slot, our passing game would be massive trouble for opposing defenses if we could keep Brady protected.

It will also make 31 + 32 potentially very valuable for the Colts and Saints as teams try to beat other teams to the punch.
