BB on Trevor Lawrence

Lawrence is in a horrible situation. A bad culture. No leadership from the coaching staff. The team is devoid of any talent.

Urban Meyers destroyed any chance of Lawrence being productive his rookie season. Meyers created a toxic culture that cannot be eliminated just by removing him a few weeks ago. They are going to need a whole new coaching staff to do that.

But even then? Who is blocking for Lawrence? Who Lawrence throwing to? For a team that has drafted high in every round for years and has a crap load of cap room every year, they are devoid of any talent. They went into this season with nearly $35 million worth of cap space left over. That is after free agency and signing draft picks in a year that no one were paying receivers and most of the top receivers on the market were forced to take one year deals and try free agency this offseason. Next year with the cap roll over, they will have over $100 million of cap space and I bet they don't even pick up one of the top WRs out there.

Belichick sees what we all do. Lawrence has all the tools to be a special player. But he is in a horrible situation.

If Lawrence went to a team, even a bad one, that would take the time to develop him and put the right talent around him, his potential is sky's the limit. Unfortunately, he is in Jacksonville and chances are they will squander his talent and ruin him like the Jets do to their QBs.
Trever has nobody to blame but himself.

The game being moved is my concern, not that the Pats would lose, but they would have short rest for Miami
Is there talk of it being moved? Would have to happen today as the Jags are flying in.

This is true. If Jax drafted Mac and we had Trevor, we'd all be talking about how great of a rookie season Trevor was having, and Mac would be 3-14 by next week. Jax is a clustermess.

Lazar made a good point.
Lawrence has handled it with dignity. He went to a dumpster fire and hasn't complained or given the media anything to chew on.

Here's a question for you all????
Knowing you're probably going 1st overall and you are de facto going to a S-hole, AND have to sign a 5 year contract. That means a 5 year indenture you may not survive in tact...see Andrew Luck.

How do you escape?

1. Only 2 that I can think of refused to go to the original team...Eli and Elway?? Thereby going to the second worst team. Whoopee!!!!
2. Stay in school? Only works if you are a not senior. You will be in the same situation 1 year later.
3. Request a trade? Good luck with that!
4. Hold out. Bad look to other teams?

It really starts at the top. Khan has no idea how to run an NFL franchise. He was handed a generational talent on a golden platter and all he needed to do was scrap the entire front office and start completely from scratch. Instead, he retains Baalke, a cancerous snake and a coach killer, and hires Urban Meyer. Baalke should have been handed his walking papers at the end of last year and Dorsey should have been given the keys to the kingdom.
KHAN! You're going to have to come down here and kill me! KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

What if he says they are pretty consistent?

Consistency represents the difference between a great QB and one who can make all the throws.

Over the last decade or so, an alarmingly high number of successful QBs have been drafted outside of the top 5.

Since 2010, the only really successful top 5 QBs have been Burrow, Murray, Luck and Newton. Then, there is a second tier of middling players: Tua, Mayfield, Goff, Wentz, Winston. After that, busts across the board.

Over the same time frame, the list of QBs taken outside the top 5 includes Wilson, Tannehill, Prescott, Watson, Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Herbert. Even the second tier of this group - Kaepernick, Dalton, Cousins, Garoppolo, Carr, Bridgewater, is comparable in production and team success to the second tier of top 5 picks.

This hammers home the importance of organizational stability in drafting a QB. The most successful QBs of the past decade were regarded as flawed prospects, but found themselves in quality organizations. There are of course exceptions to this rule (Burrow and Herbert come to mind), but there is a reason why so many QB busts have come out of Jacksonville, Cleveland and New York.

We shall see, but BB's defense has a major weakness and I think most teams can take advantage of it based how soft they play off WRs.
