What I found most interesting about BBs comments was that he doesnt care who calls the plays as he has final say and thus he is ultimately responsiple for all plays that are called. And while we all likely knew this be BBs MO as well, the reason he said this is that he wants to take all outside criticism away from anyone and everyone else and put it on himself. This falls in line with his having guys act as coordinators before giving them the titles and IMO it is a noble thing for him to do. At this point nothing can really tarnish BBs image but he certainly his coordinators and assistants are still climbing up the ladders and he can keep them from criticism.
Fans who attend games should keep an eye on BB talking into his headset while the offensive and defensive plays are being called in.
I suspect that the more BB overrides the calls, the worse things are going, and conversely, when things are going well, he doesn't have much to say.
Back when Digital Equipment Corporation was a growing successful high tech firm they had a policy of giving a person the management responsibility for a year or so before granting the title and the money.

Pardon my ignorance for I am not too familiar with the play calling on either of these two, but what makes you rather have Pepper than Patricia?
Peppers has more experience especially in BB's system. Peppers played for BB and knows what BB wants to be done. If you had a choice to either keep Pepper or Patricia, who would you pick?
OTOH Patricia is in the mold of many of the folks in the organization who worked their way up the Patriots Ladder.. some names that come to mind; Pioli, Dimitroff, Bill O'Brien, Mangini and McDaniels to name a few.
None of these folks had played for Bill but have done quite well in the NFL..
This news shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. Belichick is NOT an obsessive micro manager dictator. If you watch him during games the past few years he barely/rarely speaks into his mic. He lets his staff do their jobs, he steps in very late if it's a bad situation and looks like it won't get better. He let Eric Mangini run a horrible 2005 defense all the way until December when he said enough. He got away with it from 2001-2004 because Romeo and Weiss were experienced, talented coordinators who didn't need a ton of direction or help. Same with Dom Capers in 2007. The problem is that most of Belichick's staff is LUCKY to even be there, most had no success from whatever no-name college program they came from, so Belichick has to simultaneously coach up his players as well as his coaches. This is a big reason why so many of our recent draft picks have been released. It isn't that they drafted poorly per se (aside from McDaniels' horrible personnel input), but more that players that normally would have been coached up or improved over time, did not get better since the coaching staff wasn't that good aside from Belichick and Scar.
Aside from personnel guys like Pioli or Dimitroff, none of Belichick's recent disciples have gone on to be good coaches. Belichick's philosophies may be transferring to team building/GM skills, but it's clear that those coaches only had success while under the tutelage of Belichick who really coached them up and made them look better than they were.
there are only 32 OC for an NFL team in the entire world....i feel if someone holds that post he must be pretty good
